  1. I bought two of these floor sanders at a Ritchie Bros. Auction. They work great at taking the cupping out and leaving a smooth, like new surface.
  2. Pressure Pro 8GPM 3500 PSI

I "ALWAYS" have a spare everything with me. I can't think of the amount of times I've just grabbed another machine, kept washing and delt with the broken one later. I'd agree. Keep it. For what it's worth used, relative to what it will save you WHEN the new one craps out on you.
  3. http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/wood-cleaning-restoration-decks-fences-etc/10335-shur-flo-pic.html Shane has one, that I've copied that works great. I tried to find the link but gave up. This has a resembleance.
  4. Inside brick?

If you are referring to carbon/soot from the fireplace, use Prosoco fireplace cleaner, light scrubbing with a masonary style brush, a wet vac for rincing. Protect the areas around using plastic. If that is not what you are referring to I guess I misread and should have kept out of it.
  5. Boosting small gpm skids with portable units?

We have 3 setups, w/2 4000psi/ 4.5gpms/ 13hp elec start set ups we put together. They are on wheels, have two hose reels, and were designed with underground garages in mind. The guys absolutely love them. Set up and tear down, so you can go from level to level saves so much time. I'll get some pictures in the next week and post them for you.
  6. Use it like a knife. This is a 118,000 litre (approx 31,217 gal) liquid nitrogen system. They freeze up, and if it gets real bad, I get to make $$$$
  7. Flagstone washing video

So what did you use to pre treat it with ???? Typical house wash ???
  8. Higher oil prices mean lost profits

We only have one company that we charge gas and travel time to. It was set up that way from the begging because of how far they send us and traffic is unpredictable. As a general rule of thumb I wouldn't put a surcharge of any kind on a quote. To me it's about selling the job. Although price will always play a part, if you are selling on price you can only expect to be working for less. Touching lightly with the client (res./com.) about the icreased costs of doing business is all that should be required. Just my .02
  9. Fuel surcharge

When you buy a new car here you pay on top of the price Freight / Air tax / Gas tax / Administration / PPSA / Licence... Go buy a pair of dress pants and pay extra to have them hemmed. Go on a Vacation and airport taxes. Prices go up , prices go down. We are all entitled to make a living. Most people already expect things to change. Sell the job, costs are costs. Line paint has doubled over the last couple years. I'm not going to take a pay cut. The customer wouldn't so why should you. How you cover the increase is up to you.
  10. Fuel surcharge

"I need to feed my family". Weather you put a fuel charge, or just a plain old price increase, someone is going to pay for the increase in the cost of doing business and it's not going to be me. I will be paying everyone elses added costs and they will be paying mine. Good or bad, nothing stays the same forever.
  11. Caustic Damage!!!!!!!!!!gotta seeeeee

All our parking lots look like that from the salt (ice melting) this time of year. I'd take a picture and post it but there's a storm coming out of Kentuky and I can bearly see outside.
  12. Help!!!

How much of a family friend is he??? Seeing as there are so many different things that play a factor, I'd be more inclined to be point blank with him/her. What is it you want done and how often?? What is my competitor charging?? Can I match it or do I have to beat it?? The first rule in negotiation is the first guy to open his mouth on price loses. If he is a family friend offer to go do one for free. If he isn't willing to help a family friend out with prices, quote what you need to make a living, if you don't get it. OH WELL.
  13. I'm curious to here what other people have to say. I responded because I thought that they would have caught the spelling mistake
  14. Who's Ready

Common Sense, just doesn't seem that common anymore.
  15. winter is here, what's your plan

Carlos, way to go, taking time to stop and smell the roses. Good for you. I just got back from Mexico, Christmas is almost here, & then off to Cuba, then British Columbia. Life is to short. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. It's not a matter of can you afford it, it's a matter of can you afford not to. I love taking off to recharge the batteries.
  16. winter is here, what's your plan

Tomorrow we start cleaning a 650,000 sq.ft. warehouse. Last week we were cleaning clogged drains in an underground garage (and then video taping the end results). We have a couple dealership shop floors we do. I've come to realize there is more winter work out there if you just get a little creative with your equipment. I definately intend on being busy 12 months of the year. This will be my last slow season. Rome wasn't built in a day.
  17. Satan has started pressure washing

That is funny as HELL. heha
  18. Cleaning and Sealing pavers?

Depending on the time of year or region you live in, it's a 3 step process any way. First step is to clean, then the polymeric sand must go in on dry pavers and be wet after installation, and completely dry before sealing. Three steps, just charge accordingly. Funny thing, Techniseal called while I've been away to see if I want to attend one of there classes in January. I actually do all the warranty work for their biggest competator, who asked me to go at there expense.
  19. Bush is soaking the rich!

When the water gets low, the rocks will show. I'm not saying I've enjoyed this thread but it's certainly been amusing. Talking politics is like trying to push zhit up hill with a pointed stick. I'll stick to looking for loop holes while I push my business onward. Certain people will make money, no matter who's in power, or the state the economy is in. IMO it's a matter paying attention to where there's a hole or gap I can fit in, and use to my advantage.. And to say that is selfish would be silly. As long as what you do is not underhanded. Do it. And now back to the debate.
  20. Need some quick opinions

Bio-bathroom from ZEP is an alternative. Works well on stinky areas. We use it in stairwells were the homeless have used them for toilets. Hope this helps.
  21. strange problem

When we do gas station canopies we always take a damp rag on an extension pole and give it a quick wipe. Yes it's an extra step, but we've found it to actually save time in the long run. Not saying it'll work on this job without seeing it, just thought I'd mention it.
  22. should I attend ACR Roundtable in Nov 17

WOW.!!!!!!! Feel the love.!!!!!!! I come here for knowledge and to share, and you guys are spreading a different kind of love than I'm used to reading about, compared to the love you spray. Another reason I like this bb. I guess some of you go way back.
  23. Remote Controls

I love the idea. About 4 weeks ago we were 300-400 ft. away when the supply detached itself. NO water going to the one machine. It would have been nice to hit the kill switch instead of scrambling that whole way crapping knowing what ever it was, was not going to be good for the pump. Turned out to be the filter had worked its way loose. Maybe 45 seconds to a minute. Forgot I could run that fast.
  24. Be a Johnny

I enjoyed that inspirational break. Thanks Amazing, what a differance any one of us can make on someone elses day. It's the little things that count.
  25. WOW #2 ...another craigslist ad

Brand New Town Homes $289.900 (from) (legal fees, land transfer tax +++) Brand New F150 $24,999 (+ frt, a/c tax, gas tax, adm., ppsa, lic. and taxes) ALL INCLUSIVE 7 DAY Cruise $499 (does not include flight, airport tax, departure tax, tips or sales tax) This is nothing new. MOST of our customers wouldn't even call on a $100 wash ad as they are educated and wouldn't trust them with there $400,000 + house. Sell Professionalism, leave the price shoppers to the other guys. Waisting energy on things you can't control is counter productive. Heres my thinking on a new ad. I'll wash any house for $25.00 (chemicals, equipment, trained and insured employees wearing company uniforms, employment/health insurance, fed tax, provincial tax, trucks and gas are all mandatory and extra) LMAO
