My own two cents...My experience with the Joe Walters Agency has been so good, that any fee they charge probably isn't enough. Their service is fantastic. Just my opinion...

  8. Hey folks...gotta quick question...I recently changed my pump oil and may have added too much. The pump (Cat) takes 18oz of oil. I wasn't paying attention and added a little over 20oz (it was a 21oz bottle and I almost emptied it). I left it, figuring it would be OK. After the oil change, I noticed I was periodically losing pressure at the wand and surface cleaner. The surface cleaner will literally stop turning and just spray water from the nozzles. I tried another surface cleaner with the same results. The only change has been the changing of the pump oil, so my question is "Will overfilling the pump cause this loss of pressure?" Thanks in advance for any help! - John
  9. Need some articles...

Would anyone like to share any articles they may have on exactly how dirt and mold/mildew can degrade siding (particularly vinyl and brick)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to gather info for this Spring's marketing attack! Thanks in advance for any help! - John

  12. Too much pump oil?

Thanks for the responses, guys. No cavitating, but I haven't checked for debris. The loss of pressure is only intermittent. The surface cleaner will work for a while, then quit. I am having the swivel rebuilt...we'll see if that helps. Thanks again! - John

Thanks Dane...Gutter Shock from Rowlett's...great stuff!
  14. Drought for Estern Carolina??

Dane - As far as I know, it's "county specific". You may want to contact your local county offices and inquire as to what kind of restrictions you have...if any. We needed separate approval from 3 different counties to continue operations. - John

  17. Oak leaf stains on driveway?

Tim - Jeff is right on as usual...a strong mix of 12.5% works REALLY well. I just used some on a driveway that was badly stained by oak leaves and it worked great.
  18. Hope that title got your attention...hehehe I need help! I have been building my business over the past few years and find myself in a bit of jam. I have always concentrated heavily on residential and a good bit of commercial work. Generally speaking, aside from Oxalic, I have never had the need for using any other acid. Recently, I have a gained a TON of new construction jobs with driveways in excess of 5,000sf and COVERED in red mud. Luckily, I have been very successful using muriatic acid in these situations, but I am very leary of the dangers associated with it (inhalation, burns, potential to kill everything it touches). It is, however, quite a good tool to have in your arsenal. I have tried Oxalic mixed very heavily, and it does nothing on the red clay. My question is, given the size of the area I am covering and the amount of red clay I am dealing with, what techniques would you recommend in cleaning a surface this size with muriatic? I have recently used a surface cleaner, then xjetted muriatic (about an inch in a 5er, the rest water), then wanded the surface...but it is time consuming. Can I xjet muriatic on each section, then use a surface cleaner? The concrete is typically poured 8-12 weeks prior to me cleaning. Thanks so much for any help.
  19. O-Rings...

Anyone have a good source to order o-rings in bulk? I am constantly searching for them, and was wondering if anyone could recommend an inexpensive vendor. Thanks! - John
  20. I think I'm on acid...

David - LOL - I was more curious about the muriatic acid and how the surface cleaner would work with it than anything...thanks for the heads up. Thanks for the replies everyone...
  21. I do flatwork for a builder that has an outdoor tile patio with red mud staining along some of the grout lines...not in the grout lines, but adjacent to them (and some on the tiles themselves). I tried as much pressure as I could do without causing damage and I tried xjetting some oxalic with the fan spray attachment (it's a large patio). Neither worked and the builder wants the stains removed. If anyone can offer some fast suggestions I would appreciate it. I'm wondering if my oxalic ratio was too weak (4lbs to a 5er, but it was xjetted). There is also a section where someone dripped what I think is mastic of some sort (black, gooey, and caulk-like). This is also on the tile and causing me a nightmare. Thanks guys for any help! - John
