  1. I know some don't agree with me on this. I will not knock on doors, use door hangers or other forms of advertizing that takes me on to anyone's property. I do not like it when someone does that to me, so I will not do it to someone else.

I'm not saying it's wrong, it's just not for me.

Took me a while to realize the same thing. When we first started out, I knocked on doors, hung door hangers, etc...realized that it usually pissed people off more than anything. We have much more success with professional looking postcards and local advertising. I agree with David...

  2. A friend once gave me invaluable advice about time management...he told me "Don't waste your time on the REALLY dirty ones...they either don't give a crap about getting them cleaned, or they have no money." That's not to say that you ignore them, just don't waste your time chasing them...just my 2 cents. The ones that appear "clean" are probably using someone on a regular basis to keep them that way...work on making that someone be you (o:

  3. Hey Larry...we've had the same problems with tannin stains from oak leaves on concrete. I never ran into pecan stains, but I bet the method we use would work...after cleaning the surface, we use an M5 xjet to apply a light coat of straight 12.5% bleach...we don't rinse it. After a minute or so, the stains are gone and the concrete is brightened. Just be extremely careful, as it will kill grass, plants, etc. if you're not careful. Good luck!

  4. Can't say we formally promote this technique. It is more a matter of being prompt for the estimate, showing up to do the work on the date and time scheduled, billing final charges close to or below the original estimate (dependent on material use), and performing superior work.

Couldn't have said it better myself...Referral work is the backbone of our business and we love getting it! At this point, a majority of our work comes from referrals and I consider it a culmination of years of good service and reliability.
