  1. I just finished a 6800 sf home that came out PERFECT...The north side was covered in mold, and the gutters were black. I walked the homeowner around the house twice when I was finished. I pointed out the squeaky clean vinyl, the glaringly white gutters and the overall cleanliness of the house. He had very little reaction, which is OK, some people aren't as excitable as me...I get that. I asked him if he was satisfied with the job, and he said "yeah, looks great". He shook my hand, handed me a check and off I went.

He calls about an hour later and leaves me a voicemail saying that he wants me to come back because one of his windows is streaky!!! This is a 6800 sf home that was nasty when I started and spotless when I finished. Where would someone get off calling me to come back for ONE streaky window? Is that a little absurd, or do I just need to suck it up and deal with it? It's almost as if he needs to justify his purchase by coming up with SOMETHING to complain about...What do you guys and gals think?

  2. Thank you all for your ideas and suggestions! Brent, the sign is awesome! I went to a job today and found 6 cul-de-sac neighbors sitting in the driveway drinking! They walked around as a group finding spots I "missed", etc...I should have used Scott's soap nozzle trick! They wear me out! I did get 2 quotes out of 'em though!

  3. I was wondering if some of you could offer some techniques on getting rid of the guy that follows you around offering suggestions and asking questions the ENTIRE time you are cleaning his house. I've tried wearing my respirator to freak them out a little (also in the full yellow overalls), I have flat out asked them to leave so I wasn't liable for them inhaling chemicals and dropping on their front lawn, and I've warned them to stand back while I spray. Despite my efforts, I occasionally get some PITA that wants to follow me around, ask 8 billion questions, point out spots I've missed, etc., turning a 2 hour job into a 3 hour job. Any ideas on how to get them to stay in the house?

  4. This is UNREAL...I'm sitting on my couch typing a post on the grime scene because I finished about 2-3 hours earlier than normal today. I made the same money in half the time because of the surface cleaner! My wife, once upset about the money I spent for it, is now psyched to have me home early with a handful of checks! I know this is old hat for some of you, but for newbies like me this is quite a discovery!!

  5. I finally bit the bullet and purchased a 19 inch surface cleaner. All this time I was using turbo nozzles and was too darn cheap to invest in a surface cleaner to do driveways, sidewalks, etc. My new cleaner arrived today, so of course I ran out and did my driveway with it and I am in AWE over how quickly I did it! This will undoubtedly prove to be the best investment I've made yet! Just wanted to share...I am SO psyched to go at it tomorrow with this thing! WooHoo!

  6. I agree with Alan...I have one next weekend that insists on having me do only one side of her house. After explaining my minimum fee, the benefit of washing the whole house, etc., she still insisted on one side only. I am simply going to give her what she requested. I think its strange, but dealing with the public and all...
