HELP!! unloader problem
TalcottPressureWashing posted a topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Help guys and gals I have a general ts2021 pump with a k7(least that's what it looks like) IT has just recently started surging for lack of a better term, Its really bad with my turbo nozzle but it also does it with all my other nozzles just not as bad. I've tried cleaning the unloader as I've read that sometimes they can get trash in them (what I could get apart anyway) I tried crimping the hose coming off of the unloader down some as i had read that could be a temp fix but no luck When it's surging I can watch the piston on the bottom of the unloader going in and out and my pressure gauge goes from about 3000 psi to 0 and then back up , I also tried messing with the pressure settings to see if that could have any effect with no luck. Any advice would be great I have a driveway job coming up tomorrow and don't want to miss the job . I relize i could run direct off of the pump buut not crazy about that idea -
HELP!! unloader problem
TalcottPressureWashing replied to TalcottPressureWashing's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Thanks for the reply's guys... I took the unloader apart again and on the spring side found a fairly small piece of plastic not sure if this could have caused this problem or not, put everything back together and it seems to be working now. I do have a question though. My pressure gauge is showing about 3400 psi at the unloader with my turbo nozzle... is that 2 high ? what should i be aiming for I don't want to damage anything. With the nozzle that I'm using now I have to have the bolt ALL the way DOWN on the unloader is that right? I haven't really been able to find a clear cut guide on how it should be set up/ Thanks for your help Lyn -
Cleaning deck for paint prep?
TalcottPressureWashing posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Hey Guys and Gals , I have a customer that wants her deck cleaned before she has it painted, I'm going to look at it tomorrow and find out exactly what she wants and what I'm facing, I'm assuming that it is painted already but I'm not sure so, I'm hoping that I can get some suggestions on what I could be looking at having to do. Thanks Lyn -

TalcottPressureWashing replied to TalcottPressureWashing's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Thanks For the replys guys, Well turns out this deck has a stain already on it and she is wanting to have it restained. it appears to be just reg pressure treated wood It has a cedar tone stain with a uv protector . All I will be doing is prepping this for who ever she hires to stain and paint the front porch area. I really want to get this job but I want don't to mess up this deck, Also if anyone could give some idea about how you price this kind of work out -
Deposits anyone????
TalcottPressureWashing replied to Don EMS's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Acutally what i was referring to was not a deposit but more of a fee. Kinda like they have a huge doberman running loose in the back yard or windows open and the owner is not home in which case I would be unable to do the job that they have contracted . so it would have to be rescheulded because as we all know our time is not free and the job that I could not do that day just cost me .I was thinking something along the lines of a $50 dollar fee if the job cannot done because of something the owner did or did not do -
Deposits anyone????
TalcottPressureWashing replied to Don EMS's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I was acutally thinking of adding this same thing to my contract. stressing the things that need to be done in order for us start working , windows closed dogs put away that sort of thing. Have you had sucess with this and have people been understanding about the fee for you not b eing able to work because of something they had done or didn't do?? -
The two things that annoys me about Nextel is the fact that there is no roaming so either you have signal or you don't and the fact that they don't have something other than the beep beep sound , It's rather annoying to be in a store and hear a nextel go off and see 20 people start hunting for there phones to see if it was for them. As for me i use a nextel I730 right now but getting ready to upgrade to the I870. ps... for Durable phones it's hard to beat the old nextel I700's

TalcottPressureWashing posted a topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
HI all I just got my pressure washer 10:45 pm this very evening matter of fact! it's a 16 hp vanguard 5 gpm a min machine cold water . My trailer is a 6x12 enclosed single axle, I have a 250 gallon water tank that is going in in there also my question is what is the best way to set this up in regards to location of tank and PW? Also this machine has a general pump ts2021 that according to the info I can find is rated at 4.5 to 5.6 gpm how can I verify how many gpm I'm getting and how would you adjust it ? I know that they make gauges to test psi just not sure on how to judge gpm Thanks in advance Lyn -

OK finaaly getting ready to bolt all this stuff down, I know its been a while but had a lot of family issues since last post sickness, and death of grandmother. My question is when mounting the pressure washer should i use rubber feet for vibration or mount it directly to the floor of the trailer? once again thanks for all the help. help with trailer setup
TalcottPressureWashing replied to TalcottPressureWashing's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Hi all well I think I've gotten most of the stuff to hook everything up but The problem that i'm still working on is how to mount the tank. It is a 250 gallon tank with the metal cage around it . If anyone has any ideas on how to do this I would appreciate it. Neil it looks like the one you have , I looked at the pics you posted and it looks like you just have screws running threw the bottom of it. I could be way off on this but I sure could use some advice. Oh yes and to add some humor to your day.... Lastnight after i had bought some stuff for it I decided i gotta try this thing out and see how much more water it puts out as opposed to my lil 2.5gpm homedepot unit well i hooked up the water to it and fired up the motor and realized about 2 seconds later that in my haste i forgot to hook anything up to the bypass so lets just say I got a nice shower as i rushed to cut it off! Have a great day everyone Lyn Talcott -
help with trailer setup
TalcottPressureWashing replied to TalcottPressureWashing's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Thanks for the reply Paul, That makes me feel a little better because the way it is set up now the inlet and unloader are on the same side and if i mounted it this way it would have my pressure hose coming out towards the back of the trailer and then having to curve around. would prefer not to do that to reduce any stress on the fittings. Also could you explain a little more about remote mounting the unloader right now it is hooked on to about a 4-5 in piece of pipe. And just to clarify i can have the unloader coming out one side of the pump and the inlet coming in on the other side and everything will be good? I know this may sound like some silly questions but i really don't want to screw this thing up -

TalcottPressureWashing replied to TalcottPressureWashing's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
One other question on my pump they have the supply and the pressure washer connection on the same side is this necessary or could i move the unloader to the other side of the pump so that it would feed out the pressure hose straight out of the back of the trailer? -
you know that this is one bad motor just look at the fact that Pontiac borrowed this motor for there 25th(i think) anniv Transam , And in 89 it was the fastest production pontiac ever built

help with trailer setup
TalcottPressureWashing replied to TalcottPressureWashing's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I found it on Craigslist for 675.00. the Man I bought the unit from had gotten out of the business about a year ago because of back problems. this was his back up machine. It doesn't have a hour meter but he estimated well under 200 hours on this machine. His primary was a hot water unit he had already sold. I felt the price was excellent considering the fact that 4gpm directdrive portable units that look like they have been beat to death are going for 500-800 dolllars . this one is belt drive and electric start -

Just curious as I'm still trying to learn , and in no way am i trying to put down the excellent wok you did on this home but underneath the fireplace overhang it looks like a stain of some type is showing there. is this rust or shadowing in the pic and if so is there anything that could be used to brighten that area up ? thanks in advance for your replies

Rod i had this same thought when i was doing a friends house .HomeDepot has these cheap house guides that were only a couple of bucks i think. once i get my equip together I think that this is gonna be somethin that i'm going to try out.My problem that i had was the fact that i was using a portable unit and was trying to not let the supply hose mess the flowers that he had planted in the flowerbed -
Ok after looking everywhere on the web and talking to 3 local pressure washers John W with Superior, Philip Doolittle with Powerhouse and Cujo Cooley of Pams pressure and clean this is what i'm looking at starting with. a 3500 psi 4 gpm belt driven unit from a local supplier for 1400, a 6x10 open trailer best price on a new trailer so far is about 650-750 M5-xjet I was looking at some plastic 55 gallon drums that we use at work and i believe that i can build a rack and stack 2 of them for a water supply of about a 100 gallons .I know that i can buy a tank but these have a good price Free. is there any other recomendations that you might have on equipment for a beginer to get ? Probably going to use a turbo nozzle for driveways and sidewalks until finaces allow for a upgrade to a surface cleaner. thanks in advance for your help
