Calling all Los Angeles Washers !!!!!
One Tough Pressure replied to racechaser's question in The Club House
I do not get out to LA much. All my LA time is at night, going to places that are closed. Matt gave some good ideas, and knows the area much better than I do. -
What exactly is a "hot box"?
One Tough Pressure replied to Rick Arrese's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
FYI The water will be heated after the pressure washer. Basically all hot water units have a hot box, the difference being that it is built in rather than seperate. They have 12v and 120 v. If you get a 12v, make sure you have a charging system to support the battery or you will have problems. If you go 120v, make sure you have a generator that will support the power requirements. -
Dan B is from Sumner WA. Haven't seen him in awhile though.

I think the link below is what this post should have really started as. http://forums.thegrimescene.com/club-house/9196-looking-training.html#post89946

I got lost around number 90 something. So all these posts could never have happened, if the question was clear from the start. I will start another thread to address that and come back later to add the link. Scott K, PWM??? You asked for it.

Here are some pictures fro reference. If you hear a banging metal sound coming from your pump, and see a cracked case, then when you open it you are bound to find what I did. General has a five year pump warranty and they replaced this one after 4 years of faithful service. I finished the job I was on with lower pressure and flow than normal, but after the rod fell to the bottom, it did fine to finish up.

Why not use the same name on both computers?
-
I use my real name, "ONE I am, "TOUGH" I am, "PRESSURE" I use in many ways. I am a part timer by some standards because I have a day job. My business is self supporting as I do not use my other job to finance my way thru pressure cleaning. If I lost the other job, I would be out money, but the biz would continue as normal. My five year point is approaching as to the business, but I have been in the Commercial/Industrial cleaning field for 10 years outside of pressure cleaning. I have trained quitea few local guys in proper and efficient flatwork procedures, but not as a class. I do not charge, nor certify. I just want them to see what it really takes to make it before they low ball my accounts with no experience. Most of the "major" players here that have been making money and have multiple employees with many years in the biz are the HACKS. They look for money only and do the blow and go. Are they the ones that should be teaching these classes because they have the money made and years on paper to make them look better. I know some 20 year vets of concrete cleaning that do it all wrong. They have no computer so have no knowledge of new techniques. Do all paperwork by hand with 2 sets of books to leave no trace for the IRS, have no clue about the CWA but they make millions and have many trucks on the road. Is money and years on the job the only thing to make someone more legit???

You know, for a small one man operation that is said to only be a part tmer, that machine gets more than it's fair share of use. -
Broken Rod/Cracked Case
One Tough Pressure replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Scott, That was my first pump, and I never got around to posting pics. My second pump an AR is doing just fine as of now. Since General replaced it, I would think it was not my fault, just something that happened. -

Hi Pressure Hose 50/100/200 foot. What do you use?
One Tough Pressure replied to usarose's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Rob, What are the specs on that hose? Mine is R2 5800 psi 275°. Price is $271.00 per 100 and that was the best deal I could find. That I am willing to spend that much more for a hose, should show what a difference 1/2" is over 3/8" on an 8 gpm machine. -
Hi Pressure Hose 50/100/200 foot. What do you use?
One Tough Pressure replied to usarose's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I was trying out various 1/2" hose to see what I liked since my favorite Neptune 4500 is not made in 1/2". I so far like a hose from Hydrotek the best, just oredered another one I liked it so much. I still have 3/8" hose for back up and extra reach, but when it is worn out, 3/8" will be history. I do not recall the numbers on the psi gauge, but the difference between the 2 is worth it to me. -

I'm confused, for the burly dude that I thought you were and then you go and use girly hose, wanting an even smaller little girly hose. Honestly Jim, do you really feel a difference dragging the different types around? I went from 3/8" R2 to 1/2" R2 and cannot feel the extra 10 pounds on the ground. My shoulders have gotten wider though, Coincidence???? -
If illegal workers were not willing to work for so cheap, then the people that hire them would have to pay more, and that would attract legal workers. Look at McDonalds who pays minimum wage and the quality of their workers, and then look at In N Out Burger who pays a premium and gets the cream of the crop. Basically illegal workers are low ballers

Question about equipment
One Tough Pressure replied to suzuki98's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
2500/5.6 would be the better choice -
That cop must have been pissed. Just when he thought he had the guy, off he went. Guess they do not know the new procedures of Police work over there. Two way radio, roadblock, spike strips, helicopters. Try that here in California, and they will have a variable plethora of cars behind you, not just one, a police copter as well as many News Crews, and "when" they get you, not "if" they get you, you will probably get shot or at least a good beating.

Question about equipment
One Tough Pressure replied to suzuki98's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
According to the link you posted it is 3.5. Seems as though it is available in 5.6 gpm if you got he 2500 psi route. A much better option. -
Oh boy here we go again.

My cox reels have been pretty tough, but I am not happy with the powder coat. Next time around I will go for the Steel eagle Stainless electric ones though.
