Question for those that know about ratios
One Tough Pressure replied to Christopher's topic in Chemicals & Safety
Well, if you do not mind the low pressure that goes with the downstreamer, the yes you can get 6 gpm. Keep it simple, whether it be ounces or gallons. If you have a 1:4 mix it is 5 total or whatever the numbers are. So in ounces it is 5 ounces total for chemical and water or for one gallon it is 160 ounces total with 128 for the water and 32 for the chem. -
A message has been sent on your behalf to Beth. I looked at your settings and they seem to be fine, but wait for Beth to take a look.

Leaving Water in Lines
One Tough Pressure replied to rick77's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Running the pump dry would be worse. I never drain my machine, ever. Now of course if you have freeze issues then that is another story. -

One Tough Pressure replied to All Surface's question in The Club House
I never believe a TMZ article but did some other searches and it is true. Makes you wonder what the real deal is. Life is short, make it fun. -
Glad you were kidding about the speaking part because everyone was facing away from you.

Steam Combination Valve
One Tough Pressure replied to 4running's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I am not sure of all the ways to do it, but when I installed a steam valve on my machine, I used a general Pump metering valve that is rated for 4000 psi. I eventually switched that to a 3/8" standard high pressure ball valve. The switch was just because, not due to any problems with the GP valve. It is installed on the other high pressure output of the pump, opposite the unloader. When open, it diverts flow back to the tank and can be considered a "dual lance" on the pump. This does not harm the machine in any way and does not cause any excess pressure anywhere in the system. The pump is doing what it normally does, and the water going through the coil is less than normal so the water gets hotter which does no harm as long as you factor in the temperature setting. Does that help? -

Mounting a Pressure Guage
One Tough Pressure replied to rick77's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I use quick connects and put on the end of the hose when needed. I have no use for the gauge to always be there. -

What to use for hose tie downs?
One Tough Pressure replied to Rob R.'s topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
On my reels the end of the hose plugs into a fitting that matches the hose, so on a garden hose reel, I have a male end on the bottom of the reel (near that cox sticker in the above picture) and the female end screws onto that. On the high pressure reel, I have a male plug so the end of the hose just clicks right on. Drill a hole (a step bit is real handy) , find a nut large enough to secure that hose fitting and your done. -
oxalic reclaim
One Tough Pressure replied to zapp's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Lots of variables but picking up water at the lowest point before drain contact and then transferring to a legitimate place is the basic. Some areas do not want that water in the sanitary sewer system anymore than they want it in the local lake. So after you pick up the water, where can you legally get rid of it the quickest? Check with the local water plant and go from there. -
Newbie questions
One Tough Pressure replied to kcpowerclean's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Maybe your point of view, truth is the folks with large setups and nice trucks are just proud of what they have and rightfully so as they did not get that way doing no work or trying to "out do" anyone. To make money and in most cases you have to spend money to make money. And one of the most imporetant factors in larger equipment is will it help you make more money, which takes us back to spending money to make money. That can be a factor in some areas, but in his area, he will not encounter that problem very often if ever. Conditioning for the job solves most problems, and I do not mean being an avid gym visitor. Stretching before and after each job is the best start and often the solution. Very false and misleading. That all depends on what kind of work you are doing and what else you would like to do. Customer perception Job requirements Goverment requirements are just a few So while you may make decent money while you are booked with laughable equipment, most will not and they will fail then complain how hard it is to make a buck. What percentage of your income is from washing vs painting and other non washing related services. I have seen many where you want to limit the new start up and fully believe that minimal investment is the key to success. May work for a few, but not most. Starting small and working your way up while affording what you have and making a living is vital. -
Blown Seal On Cox Reel
One Tough Pressure replied to rick77's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
O rings are cheap, just replace it and see what happens, vs changing anything else. The local hydraulic store should have them in stock as well. Maybe a new reel but who know how long it was on the shelf prior to purchase. i am not a Cox reel fan mysef, but I would not hang them for an o-ring failure. -
Quick vent on hp ball valves
One Tough Pressure replied to jnoden's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
These are only rated to 3050 psi unless they changed the spec. You can lube the 7500 psi valves and they last for a long time. http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/tools-equipment-basic-maintenance/5582-ball-valves.html -
Decrease gallons per minute?
One Tough Pressure replied to boss's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
You will not get more pressure than the rated 3000 psi. You can reduce gpm and maintain the 3000 psi though. This would be done through the use of a steam valve to bypass water on the high pressure side. Do you have a hot water machine that may be equipped with that valve already? -
Does it happen regardless of the fuel level in the tank? I had that problem and it was when some floating debris got sucked into the fuel line. Machine off the item would go away from the pickup and then after restart it would come back. It then cracked the fuel filter since the filter was the weak link in a suction situation. A dirty fuel filter will cause that too. Quick test, run the machine off of another fuel source ie a gas can and see if the problem is still there. If not then you know you need to clean the tank.

How can gas get in with the oil on my 13 hp Honda pressure Washer engine?
One Tough Pressure replied to Chuck Bergman PC's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Do you shut off the fuel when not in use? -
Do you know what it will cost to clean those places? How long it will take you? That should be the base for you to start on what you want to make. Nobody knows what you need to charge better than you.
