pulling from a water tank
One Tough Pressure replied to TalcottPressureWashing's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Any washer will run from a tank if setup correctly. The more water in the tank, the more head pressure it has and the easier it is for the pump to be supplied. If using a direct drive unit, it is advisable to make the hose line from the tank to the washer, higher than the washer itself. The line should draw from the bottom of the tank, and not over the top. A 3/4" or larger hose or pipe is best, and the shorter the better. In comparison, I have a belt drive that sucks thru 10 feet of hose to a tank that is 18" below the pump head. That pump will suck the tank dry if I let it. -
Steel eagle has the same. Plan on going thru more O-Rings and q/c's as they wear faster with the extra movement they get from a surfacer.

Etching can also be on concrete from to much pressure. No chemicals needed. -
I would prefer a small town, but am not in a position to drop everything and go there. I drive enough, I do not need a long commute just to get back in the area so i can drive some more.

dried sap on driveway?
One Tough Pressure replied to allamericanwash's question in Residential Pressure Washing
You live too close, if I told you, I would have to kill you. However since you have an All American, I will say it anyway. I use bleach in a pump up sprayer, mixed 50/50 with water. Hot water alone has never done it for me. I saturate the area with the bleach and water, and make sure that it stays wet for about 30 minutes. I then surface clean with hot water and rinse. Rinse very well, and don't kill any grass. -

Restaurant Shooting Victim Remembered
One Tough Pressure replied to One Tough Pressure's question in The Club House
I was interseted to know what kind of cleaning his company offered, so I did a search. He was registered under Hood Cleaning, Steam Cleaning-Industrial, Patio & Deck Builders/Restoration, contruction clean-up, and general maintenance. Night work has it's good sides, but as we see here, it has its bad sides as well. It is a shame when someone works to provide for their family and somebody has to steal the only thing the person can't earn back, their life. -

Hose Length and H20 Pressure Drop?
One Tough Pressure replied to fireandrain's question in Residential Pressure Washing
According to the chart in the Dultmeier book, using 100 feet of 3/8" hose, 3 gpm = 50 psi 4 gpm = 90 psi 5 gpm = 130 psi 6 gpm = 220 psi 8 gpm = 300 psi Using 100 feet of 1/2" 3 gpm = 13 psi 4 gpm = 24 psi 5 gpm = 34 psi 6 gpm = 52 psi 8 gpm = 80 psi I use 1/2" hose for the first 100 feet off the reel. As I replace hoses, they will all be 1/2". -
I have had good luck on residential, everyone stays inside or leaves for the day. However, on some convenience stores that I have the clerks like to come out and nitpick, while trying to get some add ons for free. I run the surface cleaner first, and then come back to rinse and get the gum. The clerk sees gum after I pass with the surfacer and is real quick to point it out. I simply let him know that I am not done yet. Then I get the wand out, so I can try and finish, but that is usually when they stand right there watching. Since I had my head down, I play on that and just go ahead and start. They usually go back inside real quick. Little water splashing never hurt anyone.

What I dislike about the BigGuy
One Tough Pressure replied to PLD's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I use the 24" Steel Eagle and you can have the same lateral movement of a hover or castered unit, simply by lifting the back end a little bit and allowing the unit to move on the front caster. Should be no different for the Big Guy. -
Here is the rest of it. I originally found this on Delco's site in the sample forms, and then modified it to my liking, as well as adding some of my own stuff. Surface cleaners
One Tough Pressure replied to sjpressurewashin's question in Residential Pressure Washing
It is a BE and they put their name on it. ESpec has had so much bad press from end users that I would steer clear of them all together. -
That only works if you are subscribed to the thread which is optional. If you look in your profile, you will see a link to all posts made by you, and all threads started by you. That can help save some major time. Also in the search feature at the top, you can go advanced and narrow it down very tight. Are any of these the ones? http://forums.thegrimescene.com/search.php?searchid=188247

Prespraying always helps, unless the surface is pretty clean to begin with. Steel Eagle, not Silver Eagle. I know what you meant though.

Look what's for sale....
One Tough Pressure replied to EnviroClean's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I called them all and now I 'm moving to Georgia. If someone were to call them and get anything, then you would have to wonder how happy they were with the other guy to begin with. Just because someone sells, does not mean that the business will run any worse, so if he were to assure the customers that the only thing changing was the owner, then you would think that they would be willing to stay with his company and at least see, before they jump ship just because he is selling. Big question here is if he had any real contracts and if they were transferable to a new owner. If not then he is out of luck big time with that price. He did say each rig was $20,000 and that there are 2 complete ones, with the shell of a third that is being built. Computers and other related items were also included. Bottom line is that with what he has for sale, he will not get his price unless the customers have that transferable contarct which is what is actually worth anything. -
Momma does not look amused.
