Surface Cleaner: Wheels vs. Floater
One Tough Pressure replied to HotShot's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Strange it worked earlier. Click on search and type in "Surface Cleaners". There are 5+ pages of threads that will answer all the questions on various types. Maybe it will work this time http://forums.thegrimescene.com/search.php?searchid=174651 -

Can Someone Describe What Downstreaming Is?? Thanks!
One Tough Pressure replied to fireandrain's question in Residential Pressure Washing
If the injector is on the high pressure side and you must use a lower pressure to get the chem flowing, then yes it is "downstreaming" -
Whatever does not get sold on Monday was either sold on Sunday or will be sold on Tuesday. No different than the gas strike days. One day will not make a big difference

Many things it could be. The easiest and fairly common is a worn nozzle. Despite being Stainless Steel, they do wear out. You could also be sucking air on the intake side, have a worn unloader, worn packing on the pump, or a leaky hose reel swivel. Is your machine running at optimum rpm, and have you ever adjusted the unloader to lower pressure?

My son is 10 and my daughter is 6. Hopefully the big brother love will show up one day and be her protector as well. Guns are already here and stand ready. My son is always trying to be the tough guy, but my daughter is always the caring compassionate one. What a balance that is. Don't worry Jeff, you will do fine, as it will just come naturally of what you have to do. As far as containing your joy, you are on your own. I still have not figured that part out in the combined 16 years my two have given me.

Wear a respirator, and prespray with a quat type disinfectant. Avoid any dry handling of the feces, as this allows it to go airborne. -
Got Carpal Tunnel?
One Tough Pressure replied to PRESSURE PACKED's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I had the same problem on each arm and after wearing a brace, both arms are just fine. I have always run a flow unloader, and after many k-7 failures, I now use a Zk1 also made by General. Much more durable. I keep the braces in the truck and if i feel even a little bit of pain, I wear it until it goes away. -
I just received this in e-mail and thought I would pass it along to someone who may be interested in it. My main focus is concrete cleaning, so it does not do me much good. I know nothing about this company, other than what you see below. Inquire at your own risk. December, 2003 Wanted Qualified Contractors Are you experienced in cleaning vinyl siding? If so, there is a new profitable business opportunity that will allow you to dramatically expand your business. In your work you have seen vinyl siding that appears to be faded or oxidized, what you're seeing is in fact TiO2 oxide particles protruding from the vinyl siding. The end result, degraded vinyl surfaces that create warranty problems for the manufactures. In the past ten years alone 314 billion square feet of vinyl siding have been installed in the United States. Within two to four years UV rays and acid rain start to deteriorate the surface causing what appears to be fading or oxidation. Vinyl ReNu can restore the vinyl surface for 50% to 70% percent less cost than replacement and is becoming a cost effective option of manufacturers. We are currently in the process of assembling a nation wide network of Qualified Contractors to handle warranty claims for the vinyl siding manufacturers. After extensive testing and product development Dur-A-Shield International, Inc., in conjunction with the Polymer Science and Engineering Department at SMU, developed Vinyl ReNu, an antimicrobial polymer, which penetrates and fuses with the vinyl to form a protective surface shield. VinylReNu will restore the color and prevent any further deterioration due to UV rays and acid rain. We invite you to consider becoming a Vinyl ReNu Dealer there are a number of ways to profit by having your own exclusive geographical area. For more information visit our web site www.vinylrenu.com, a complete technological information package is available, fill out the dealer opportunities application located on our home page and we will overnight the information along with a video. If you have any questions or if you would like to receive additional information on Vinyl ReNu, please call me personally at 800-280-1322. Vincent R. Valles, Sr. President, Dur-A-Shield International, Inc.

Sewer Jetting Hose...
One Tough Pressure replied to svp07's question in Residential Pressure Washing
If you run 1/4" rather than 3/8" hose, you will lose about 500 psi per 100 feet with 4.5 gpm. Using 3/8" hose, you lose about 100 psi per 100'. You could run 3/8" most of the way and just take 50 feet or so of 1/4" up top to help save some loss. -
Sewer Jetting Hose...
One Tough Pressure replied to svp07's question in Residential Pressure Washing
They make different sizes, which size were you planning to run? The ones that I have seen are generally 1 wire for better flexibility, which makes them lighter. Other than that, it is the same hose for the most part. -
I wasn't saying that a larger orifice will give you more pressure. I was using the numbers to show what orifice corresponds to what psi range. In order to get those max psi rating, you would also have to run the same gpm as I have under each orifice number. So using this as an example, #13 3000-4000 psi You would need between 11.26 and 13.00 gpm to obtain max pressure of the pump with the #13.

That would be a good day to be washing with cold water only.

dual lance problems - HELP!
One Tough Pressure replied to DustinC's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
There is no special gun for dual lances. As long as the couplings are compatible it will work. Either the gun is defective, or it is a weep gun. Are you aware that the handle on the side is there to turn to adjust water flow? Is there a nozzle in place on the high pressure side? -
May make no sense, but that is the way it is.
-
If you look at a nozzle chart using the X-Jet orifice number and the psi rating that goes with it, you will see the variation of gpm. It is not one set number. #16 4000-5000 psi (My chart doesn't have 16, so this is pretty close.) 15.00 16.77 #13 3000-4000 psi 11.26 12.16 13.00 #9 2000-3000 psi 6.36 7.12 7.79 http://www.arnorthamerica.com/spraynozzlechart.html
-
Those #'s represent which orifice X-Jet to use with a certain PSI washer. The X-Jet is a PSI based tool.

#16 4000-5000 psi #13 3000-4000 psi #9 2000-3000 psi

what size water tank
One Tough Pressure replied to mas3372's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I have 2-230 gallon tanks and I almost always have them full. I mainly do commercial so it is a must around here, but when I was heavy into residential I always showed up and left with a full tank, unless it was a small job. -
I use a Zk1 Flow unloader so there is no kick. I also use the surface cleaner extensively, which cuts down my wand time considerably.
-
Mike, Unless I have been lied to by multiple distribs, it is based on PSI not gpm. Where did you get your info?
