Connection Hoses On Reel
One Tough Pressure replied to rick77's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
The bulk of a quick coupler and a hex are about the same. The hose will only bend so far at the end so if you roll the hose with that section doing a 45° across the reel it really helps out. If you do not take hoses apart very often then it is a good idea, but have 2 pipe wrenches available because the "hex" will wear off real fast and you will just have a round union to deal with. -
Ever clean a garbage chute?
One Tough Pressure replied to Robo_Spray's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I clean trash chutes on occasion and run a duct spinner with high heat through to soften the debris and then follow with a sodium hydroxide based cleaner then rinse. This is in an apartment building so all access doors get secured shut and signs posted to prevent any mishaps. We drop a rope from the top and pull the duct spinner up and down. All water comes back down to the dumpster area, and the room has a drain as well. They get done quarterly. -
You guys actually sleep? I do 100 hours a week of work and school and when it is sleep time, I am to revved up to get very much. Cat naps are my best friend.

High Pressure Filters
One Tough Pressure replied to rj242's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I do not use them on any of the surface cleaners, but do have one on the turbo that never gets used. -
three way high pressure ball valve?
One Tough Pressure replied to jnoden's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I know they make a valve like that but do not know the name of the company. The one I have seen looks like the standard 7500 psi valve with the very box like shape. Problem is that it is not meant for 2 inputs and one output or vice versa. It is made to draw from one source or another and then output. Check valves are an integral part of a dual machine set up. Not sure on the unloaders but seem to recall that they both need to be pressure type or require the use of larger tips to eliminate going into bypass with the flow unloader. -
I generally keep working, and refer to no one as I can't find anyone and sometimes miss money since I can't work. I do not get sick very often, but if i did i would find a quality back up and keep them on stand by as needed.

I have been in this situation with a person that I trusted and they make plenty of money to pay their bills, it was that he just figured I was the little and what could I do. I had no written agreement with him and had done plenty of jobs for a higher than normal rate on a "rush basis" so I had no problem on waiting for payment on the last job. Lesson learned the hard way, I will never work for anyone without a written agreement and have no legal recourse on the other guy. I wrote off my expenses and moved on from there.

Fixed-location reclaim solution for van
One Tough Pressure replied to AMDin93103's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Simple is best, and works on many occasions. I have spent lots of money to find the cheap way works well in many situations. Glad it works for you too. -
What's in your Tool Box(s)
One Tough Pressure replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I use a fifth wheel box. same holding area of a cross bed, but very low profile to thieves as it does not come above the side rails and can not be seen from a distance. I have all the tools above in many sizes, vacu boom tubes, most washer repair parts unless it is a major item like an engine or coil, extra electrical cords, door stops for spring loaded dumpster gates, plastic sheeting for painted windows, misc chemicals, on board air and other misc stuff. -

Fixed-location reclaim solution for van
One Tough Pressure replied to AMDin93103's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Why not gravity drain the holding tank? You plan to dump it later at home anyway so this would be ideal and very cost effective. If you need to get the water further than gravity will allow, then you can drain into the vacuboom canister and sump it with that while keeping the noise down because you do not need to run the vacuum. -
For those that have over 200' on your reels for Power Washing
One Tough Pressure replied to Christopher's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I use threaded couplers. the qc's gets so beat up dragging them around that the threaded is cheaper and more durable, with no chance of o ring failure on a hard to disable hose. Should I need more hose than I have on the reel, I use qc's to add sections. -
There is a window open
One Tough Pressure replied to plainpainter's question in Residential Pressure Washing
If it can be closed, then fine, if not I move on. In todays world, it is much safer and easier to come back later. -
That's okay, plenty of others will share info to help someone out. And for whoever is in my neck of the woods, word of the day is don't waste money advertising unless you are looking for residential work and have coupoms or something else to entice people with. Commercial work is handled face to face only with free demos to seal the deal. You have to spend money to make money and FREE demos are gold for potential customers.

White smoke out the burner?
One Tough Pressure replied to Joe Ortiz's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
white smoke is an incomplete burn and also an indicator of lack of fuel. Make sure your diesel filter is clean and the tank has a sufficient amount of fuel. You may need to adjust the air bands as well, check and see if they are loose. -
This was Scary
One Tough Pressure replied to Palmetto Home and Deck's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
If this guy is so anal why did he not put on tape strips rather than tears. He pretends to be picky to cover up his internal feelings. Someone should say that to him and be ready to let him cry on their shoulder. -
Got my PW but what is this?
One Tough Pressure replied to ls1cameric's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Did you use the right oil? Non Detergent 30 weight. -
Any proof to back this up? How about a link to a verifiable story.

I vote for a rope, and it can be reused on the next scum bag that needs a quick exit.

One Tough Pressure replied to Bennyhonda's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Cox makes reels rated for up to 10,000 psi so you should be able to get the parts you need. Coxreels has the largest selection of high quality hose reels, cord reels, cable reels, & ez-coil reels. -

One Tough Pressure replied to Rick2's question in The Club House
It's not about how many came to my door, but how many doors I went to. I lost count and the bags were loaded. -

Robot Window Cleaner
One Tough Pressure replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Window & Gutter Cleaning
For safety sake I hope so. I have read way to many articles this year on window cleaners falling. And those are just the ones that made national news.
