Suttner Dual Lance Question...
One Tough Pressure replied to mikew's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
All of my dual lances have the same little plastic gizmo and they have screws to remove them. I just loosen a bit and then slide the sleeve back. If you do not have any screws, then maybe it just slides back. You may need to clean it up a little if it haas build up on it. -
I would love to, but can't make it that day.
-
I don't use any, yet to see one that lasts a while.
-
Not sure if that was to me or not, but I do not polish concrete, I clean it. Never got into sealing either as I have yet to see one that lasts very long under regular use. How involved is concrete polishing?
-
I gave thought to Stone and was even going to attend a few classes to get a better idea of what to expect. That was 4 years ago, and since then I have gone almost 100% Commercial Concrete. Around here, every carpet guy seems to have Tile and Stone on their van, as well as upholstery. Not sure how much they do it, but they say they can.

Cold Low Pressure Washer w/ Foam Gun attachment?
One Tough Pressure replied to AMDin93103's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
You can use an upstream or downstream injector. No need to suds up the whole tank. Use a q/c between the gun and lance and switch as needed. If you play with the unloader, you will be wasting time. You can reduce psi by simply using a larger orifice tip. Reducing flow can be accomplished with a metering valve on the extra high pressure port of the pump. -
That may be his getting the phone to ring and then he does the upsell. Just like carpet cl;eaners that do any room for $4.95. That would be water only, and by the time they add shampoo, neutralizer, stain protector, treat spots etc, they get much, much more per room.

Given the choices, you want the 5.5/2500. It will run circles around the other machine. And yes you can power a surface cleaner just fine with 2500.

Depends on your insurance carrier, whether you pay for additional insured or not. My first company wanted $50.00 each or $150. for unlimited. I now use Joe Walters and it is free whenever needed. As far as NEST, I know a few who have worked for them, and they can best be described the same as FLEETWASH. They pay you after they get paid by the customer and it is in writing that you can not go to the customer for any reason, as you are nobody to them.

I had a 1021 pump and the General specs are 5.6 gpm/1700 psi at 1450 rpm. The skid was rated for 5.3 gpm/3500psi and the latter numbers were true when tested. I have asked many folks why General says one thing and the distribs say another and the most often heard answer is that General changed the specs and did not revise their info. Who knows what the real answer is? http://www.generalpump.com/marketing_view.asp?series=T47S

Changed Pump Now Problem
One Tough Pressure replied to a topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Even if you used a 5.5 on the wand, you would still be using the 6.0 on the surfacer, as you will not be able to get 5.5/2, 3 or 4 nozzles. A pumps psi is rated at the pump head with no unloader, burner coil, hose runs, reel, etc. Do you have another gauge to compare with to confirm the mounted one is accurate? -
Changed Pump Now Problem
One Tough Pressure replied to a topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Could be that it is not a true 5.6 gpm and that you need to use a 5.5 nozzle instead. How many feet of hose do you have on the machine? And is it the same amount that you normally have? Realistically you can not expect 3500 psi at the hose end. I use to run that same General Pump with 150' and pressure was 3200 at the gun. http://www.arnorthamerica.com/spraynozzlechart.html -

It is not the number of posts that matter, it is the useful content. I know of one with a combined total over 10,000 on the various boards and less than 100 actually mean anything. The rest are just bable or "bump" posts.

Tell me how to start
One Tough Pressure replied to Limeade's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Self Motivation is the only way to make it. Whether it be that you do not want to work for someone else, or you think that you can get rich quick, you need to find the motivator that gets you going. Making your own hours while going to school and making more money than working for someone else should be a big one right there. How much have you used that machine you have? Do you enjoy the work while doing it? Are you willing to spend many more bucks in this to get more competitive? Do you, or do you plan on having business insurance? -
As far as spare parts, I have started a collection. I have replaced fuel solenoids, racor filters, fuel pumps and a pressure switch, all at the worst possible time. I now keep one of each in the toolbox, as well as an extra transformer. These items do you no good, unless you can isolate the problem, and are willing to do field repair vs shutting down for the day. Learning to do your own maintenance/troubleshooting is a key item to me. We all like to be self empoyed, but if you have to wait for a mechanic, then what's the point.

Too many choices
One Tough Pressure replied to ken wiggins's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Your specs are a bit off. You may want to double check to confirm the facts. Honda does not make a 25 HP, their biggest is 24 HP. 8 GPM is a real good choice, but you may not like the dual gun setup as it will feel real weak as compared to 8 gpm. What size is the trailer? You want some room for expansion and factory trailers leave little to no room, I know as I have mine packed very tight to get only some of the extras on there. -
Fast Pour Gas Cans
One Tough Pressure replied to VanDiesel99's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I get mine local at the motorcycle shop, but here is a link the type that I use. I bought them for a big job that required lots of fuel and no where close to get any. Since I have 18 gallon gas and diesel tanks on the skid, I rarely use these. They do come in real handy when needed though. -

Subject: Oxymorons or Morons
One Tough Pressure replied to One Tough Pressure's question in The Club House
Miss Beatrice, the church organist, was in her eighties and had never been married. She was admired for her sweetness and kindness to all. One afternoon the pastor came to call on her and she showed him into her quaint sitting room. She invited him to have a seat while she prepared tea. As he sat facing her old Hammond organ, the young minister noticed a cut-glass bowl sitting on top of it. The bowl was filled with water, and in the water floated, of all things, a condom! When she returned with tea and scones , they began to chat. The pastor tried to stifle his curiosity about the bowl of water and its strange floater, but soon it got the better of him and He could no longer resist. "Miss Beatrice", he said, "I wonder if you would tell me about this?" pointing to the bowl. "Oh, yes," she replied, "Isn't it wonderful? I was walking through the Park a few months ago and I found this little package on the ground. The directions said to place it on the organ, keep it wet and that it would prevent the spread of disease." "And do you know I haven't had the flu all winter?!!" If you don't send this to five OLD friends right away there will be five fewer people smiling in the world. -

They did away with them for Air Quality reasons. I use the square racing jugs and they still come with the vent. -
