water supply question and tip
One Tough Pressure replied to CLASSICPW's question in Residential Pressure Washing
The Delco thing is used to draw water from a lake, or in your case a pool, and makes perfect sense to me. You hook the line to the machine and drop the other end in the water body you want to pull from. -
Anyone use Aaladin Pressure Washers?
One Tough Pressure replied to Craig's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Aaladin is the parent company for Steel Eagle. They are/were one of the companies that make the Delco units. -
Getting Your Foot In The Door W/Out Stepping On Your Competitors Foot
One Tough Pressure replied to newlook's topic in Construction Cleaning
Good one Carlos, I can see a use for that in a few current situations. -
I just did the bathroom and rented a steamer to do it. It worked much better than the Dif from Depot. Check the local rental yard.

Remotely locating a gas tank/ fuel consumption
One Tough Pressure replied to PLD's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
According to my spec sheet, my 20 HP Honda uses 2.5 gph and my diesel fueled burner uses 3 gph. -
I was getting ready for work when I looked out the window And saw a Nova Scotia Power crew starting to erect a pole in front of my house. They were going to position it directly in front of my picture window. No way, absolutely no way was I going to permit this. I gulped down my last bit of coffee and went directly to the crew supervisor and told him in no uncertain terms that I was not going to permit his crew to put that stupid electrical pole directly in front of my picture window. He took out a plat map, a map for pole locations and a right Of way document and explained that it is the best location for it.I told him it is not the best location for me and when I came home from work that day I did not want to find that pole in front of my window. I told him I didn't give a hoot where he put it but not in front of my window. I felt pretty smug as I drove off to work because I felt I got my Point across.

Is it cool to cool, or should I stay hot?
One Tough Pressure posted a topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I was informed when I got my hot water rig to always cool the burner down after use, as it will help to prevent scale build up in the coil. Now I read in Cleaner Times to leave it hot as it will be "hot & dry" vs "cold & wet". So what do you folks do when shutting down? -

Alrighty then... http://www.nikro.com/products/moreinfo.asp?i=298 That with some modifications of a sump added will do you well. You will need a large generator as the vac motors alone are 13 amps each, plus the sump that will be around 9 amps. -

It is not just the surfacer, but a good vacuum as well. How much hose would you want to run will play a huge factor in which vacuum to choose. -

Up until I started this business, I always did my own taxes. Now with write offs and the laws always changing, I use a CPA. I consider it money well spent, as I do not have to worry if I messed up and if their coming to get me or not.

Using "Home Center" parts
One Tough Pressure replied to PLD's question in Residential Pressure Washing
There was a guy on another bbs that used a low pressure ball valve, and it failed very fast. It looked like something that would be used on air tools or something. This same guy also took pictures of non recovering washers and called the City on them. So we have 2 strikes right there. -
Flexible berms
One Tough Pressure replied to Degraffreed's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Tracey, Glad it is working our for you. I am not sure who turned me onto that stuff, but it does work fairly well. A 50 foot roll will last for a long time. Recovery does not have to be expensive, it just has to work. I also keep a few sand bags handy, they have their uses as well. -
Plumbing questions.
One Tough Pressure replied to PLD's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Simple, and should do just fine. What kind of machine do you have, direct drive or belt drive? Either way, I would make that 5/8" into a 3/4" and as short as possible. Do not forget an inline filter. Is the tank level with the machine or ? Good idea. Now for the questions: The supply would go into the 1.5" and then to the tank. The tank then goes to the machine. When you say the fill tube, you mean the 1.5". You can do that, as long as it is flowing back into the tank. the whole purpose is to make the machine suck cool tank water rather than going in a very short loop and getting hot fast. Install an adjustable float valve. What is the check valve for? When you say back fill the tank, I am assuming you mean wash from the supply and fill the tank at the same time. My machine runs off the tank at all times. I have ball valves on each tank so I can fully open the supply line and meter at the tanks as neccesary. I almost always carry a full tank of water. -
Flexible berms
One Tough Pressure replied to Degraffreed's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Are they the ones sold by new pig. They have some that are a soft urethane material and are supposed to weep into small cracks. If those are the ones, they are pretty heavy and fairly expensive. A semi local place was selling them and when i inquired about them, they said to save my money as they do not last long. -

help on guns n' lances
One Tough Pressure replied to Barry M's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I have both stainless and aluminum wands and do not have a preference. I have different lengths, from 1' to 4' and a extension poll. I also use the XJet. It would be best if you had the correct hose for your unit, and I would say go back and straighten those sales people out. I bought this set off ebay a couple years back and it has served me well. ebay listing -
