  1. sump pums

The sump pumps in vacuums are the same, but they will clog less as you will have a filter on the inlet of the vacuum. If you can keep debris out of a sump pump that is placed on the ground, it will cost you less in equipment and there will be less to cart around. For ground work, you will want a water sensitive sump pump as they are electronically controlled and will work without having to make a small lake that would be needed for one with a float switch on the side. They detect water as low as 1/8" to the ground.
  2. New PW Org Poll

Wholesale memberships will always get the numbers up, but we need more than that.
  3. K-7 Unloader Problem

I have taken my old K7's apart for inspection and they both looked fine. I will have to take this last one apart and see what might be in there. For the time being, I will use a Giant pressure type unloader and see how I like that kick. Each time I replaced my K7, it was the unloader only, I used the same fittings that were on the first one that came with the machine, so there is no question that I had the right one. The surging stopped almost as fast as it came so i guess there was a small piece of junk in there that cleared itself. Either way, I was low on pressure, so it needed to be replaced asap.
  4. Water in the Gas tank

I am unaware of the internals of the tank. It has been advised that I should not remove the barb as they can be difficult to get back in. Apparently if removed they sometimes break the threads that are molded into the tank. I had enough bad luck, so I did not want to chance it.
  5. Water in the Gas tank

Since water is heavier than gas I know it did not happen at the gas station, as my machine would not have run the night I filled it up. My fuel lines pull off the bottom of the tank, so they would have sucked water right off. Mathew, It is the Giant 25150 rated at 10.5 and 4100psi.I was using a K7 flow, but have now gone with a Giant Red Spring Pressure type. The k7 was great but they keep failng me.
  6. Water in the Gas tank

I will be making a locking mechanism to cover the cap. I do not want any chance for this to happen again as it really ruined my day. Glad I was at home when I figured it out and not on a job site.
  7. Adjustable Hudson jig

If you have the valve going into the top of the tank, you can put a larger pipe than the float valve uses to make a sleeve. You then put the float on the smaller required pipe and have a set screw on the sleeve. So when you raise and lower the float you can tighten it down. Think along the lines of the adjustable pole lights, like those at Home Depot., one pipe slodes in the other.
  8. Tennis Ball ?

I can not get the third hand to stay put for long periods of time. I have not tried a tennis ball, but may just have to give it a whirl. With Rod's leash idea as i do not want to chase it all ober if it falls out.
  9. five minute fence?

When I saw this, I immediately thought of this site. http://www.phandaco.com/
  10. K-7 Unloader Problem

And I have the same surging that just started out of the blue. I have no air leaks on the inlet, no weeping of the gun and the bypass hose is the same one that has been there for a long time. This is third K7 I have put on since April of 04. What gives, why do they fail so quick? What is a good pressure type unloader to switch over to?
  11. Gloves??

I wear latex gloves when mixing chems and getting fuel. I wear leather gloves for almost everything else.
  12. Final Demand on dead beats

Does anyone have a well written letter that they would like to share, to advise dead beats that it is now time to pay in full or get slammed? I have a few ideas to write my own, but would like to see what others may have. If they are not paid up by the end of this month, I will suspend service. It has gotten to the point that I do not care if I lose the account as they have not been paying the bill. End of the month will be 90 days on the oldest invoice, and they will owe me for 4 months at this time.
  13. Final Demand on dead beats

Just a little update. Before I did anything else, I called the guy again and simply asked if he had mailed the check yet. He says he did and it was here the next day. The owner has been in the hospital,(he's 81) and his son was supposed to take care of the bills, but did not. I know the owner is very sick and have no reason to doubt his story. So everything is current and no drastic measures had to be taken. Thanks to everyone for the good info, I am sure it will come in handy down the road.
  14. Looking for unbiased equipment opinions ?

Bob at Pressure Tek in Ohio has built some nice units. You may want to check into his pricing as well. www.pressuretek.com
  15. Gpm

Is that with or without chems? Using the F-18 I can't get it any cleaner with full impact of the wand, vs the surface cleaner with split impact. No gum involved of course.
  16. Gpm

What kind of work are you doing? The 8 gpm will speed up the rinse process. As far as making a surface cleaner do a better job, that is a question that I asked in another thread and have yet to receive a quality answer.
  17. I have a question guys ???????

I have a City business license in each City that I do regular commercial work. If it is just a residential job, I would not fret over getting one for a one time deal. If I were to work there on a regular basis it would be worth it for various reasons. My City shows on the license "Misc Services" as do the others that I have. It would seem that if you have a Paving license that you could do add on pressure washing with no problems, but each City can dictate their own rules. Carpet Cleaners fall into misc services here. Anothe point to having the City License is that some cusromers would like to know that their money is not escaping to other places when they hire you. I may not be local to an area but they get some dollars and many like that.
  18. ideal job

This file has been reviewed by board administration and found to be clean and just have some Vb Macros. Enjoy the file and stop worrying.
  19. Website feedback

    Beth makes web sites too.
  20. Soda? or not to Soda?

Russ, I have used mine exclusively for soda, and while I can not compare it to the use of other soda blasters, I can say that it works very well. William, I picked mine up at my local dealer, but they are widely available over the internet. Here is one of the better deals around, Click Here
  21. How many of us ignore injuries?

It depends on what it is. If I know that general care by me will resolve the issue in a timely manner then I do not go, but if I am in doubt or it has lasted longer than expected, then I will drag myself in there.
  22. Flu Shots

    I do fine without them.
  23. Soda? or not to Soda?

I have a soda/sand blaster nozzle that works similar to the X-jet. They can be had for about $150.00 if you shop around. It is used for wet blasting of course which is nice to keep the dust down. Unless you have very large projects that you will be doing on a regular basis, then why even consider spending 7g's?
  24. Pssssst!! Guess what?

If you don't like the thread, just don't click on it. Suspense can be a good thing.
  25. You guys gonna call me crazy!!

Never know what you might find when playing in the sand.
