  1. leather boots = pruned feet

I have had that problem also and boy do they stink. I leave them outside as they will sour the whole house if I let them. These are a canvas type material. On leather I used Mink Oil and it worked very well. Just need to remember to keep putting it on. I would like to try the fire fighter bunker boots as they are said to be more comfortable, but I am a little hesitant to spend $200. and find I do not like them.
  2. leather boots = pruned feet

I hate rubber boots as much as I hate wet feet. Are the boots really leaking, or is it your pant legs getting wet and the water running down inside the boot? I bought those nylon rain pants and make sure that they cover the tongue of the boot. Makes all the difference in the world.
  3. Wiring problem truck/trailer

Hey Rod, Yes all the bulbs are good as everything worked, it was that the brakes were getting stuck. I was looking into it as I awaited replies and found that the Brown Running Light lead and the Blue Electric Brake lead had rubbed on each other and wore thru the insulation. I think it would be safe to say that when the lights were on, they gave power to the brake wire and caused my problem. So fixed it is, because the only thing worse than no brakes, is brakes that are stuck on.
  4. P.O. Box or Not?

I'm not worried about my customers dropping by as they have no need. However I am not keen on the idea that the competition knows where I am.
  5. P.O. Box or Not?

For residential work that may be okay, but what about commercial? They are not likely to be there when the work is completed. I use a P.O. Box as well.

  7. One Tough Question!

CSLB C-61 Specialty D-63 Construction Cleanup A construction cleanup contractor cleans up and/or removes from building grounds or structures any debris resultant from any construction project including but not limited to: concrete, dirt, scrap lumber, plaster, drywall, any paint or adhesive products from windows, floors, ceramic tile and bathroom fixtures. One of these may be handy.
  8. Wood Furring

Hot water will make wood fur as well. Aside from mixing the chems hot, did you wash that way too?
  9. reels

    Wanna Trade?
  10. Invisible folks

Just wondering why some folks choose to be invisible and not show up in the online users box. I can see you either way, but just wonder what the point is. If you are not invisible, please do not reply to this, and give answers for someone else.
  11. A poll for lurkers...

I logged out to see what was available and it seems like everything is viewable, but you need to register to reply and see attachments.
  12. A poll for lurkers...

I would call a lurker, someone who views but does not post. That would be a registered member as well.
  13. reels

I have to agree that my Cox reels did rust up faster than I had expected. I believe they only sell them in blue , but I got mine on a factory trailer and they are black, so maybe it has to do with a bad coating by the trailer maker. Steel Eagle makes some nice looking Stainless reels, and Beth has some nice looking prices on them too. Check out the online store. When it comes time for new reels, I want some of these.
  14. Healthy Power Washing

Small bit being the head insert. Why do you have pictures of guy's with their shirt off?
  15. What was your Profession before entering into the P/W Industry?

    U.S. Army Combat Engineer
  16. Healthy Power Washing

Nice picture Craig, if that is you, then who did I meet last month?
  17. What was your Profession before entering into the P/W Industry?

How many years do you wanna go back? I was in the restaurant biz for 8 years, 2 as management. Military for 3 years, Security for 5 years, and School District Maintenance for 8 years. No I am not a old timer, just started working at 14, and had overlapping full time jobs.
  18. whats the difference

With some companies they are, just depends. I use Cox Reels and Good Year R2 hose and unroll as needed. May not work for some people, but I have had good luck doing it. I also use a Flow unloader and I feel that helps it along too.
  19. enclosed trailers

Sure their are if you do not take adequate steps to set it up correctly. You need to vent the exhaust of the engine and the burner out of the trailer, in the least restrictive way, as well as making sure that the engine has an adequare source of fresh air, and isn;t boxed in a corner. A vent to allow for gas vapor to escape on a hot day when you have it locked up is also not a bad idea.
  20. whats the difference

Depends on the company. It would be ill advised to put pressure hose on any reel that is rated for supply only though. I use Cox reels, and have 2 of the same, one for pressure and one for supply. That's funny Craig. I suppose if Eric would have a signature, then you would know that he is not a she.
  21. Getting this off my chest....

Pressure Loss averages about 100 psi for 100 feet of hose.
  22. rates per hr

Sure I try to stay at the same rate for most jobs, but what that rate is doesn't matter to you in $ amount. Reason for that is the way you stated the question, leaves way to many variables. While some make a payment for their equipment, some do not. Some have a million dollar insurance policy, while some have $300,000. Some have a crew and some do not. You get the picture, everyone has different overhead, so they charge different for tha same job. Yo u need to figure your expenses and then go from there.
  23. reels

If you use that full pressure, then you want a 4000 psi reel. If you tip the machine down and never go over 3000 then those reels would be fine. If you secure them correctly then they should not go anywhere. I drive with my hoses on the ground when doing long centers and that has never done any harm. I suggest going all the way through the floor whether it be metal or wood, and using fender washers for extra support of the nuts on the bottom.
  24. Getting this off my chest....

And so what if somebody is a beer drinker? As long as it is not on the road or the job, then it doesn't matter. Depends on where they are free loading, as long as it is not my house, it doesn't matter. And the word Low balling is used so often and out of context, that we need to come up with a new word. Many people figure that if you buy a machine from Depot or the like that you got the cheapest one and since it will not last long under hard contiuous usage that you must just be in it for the short run. They sell some good models and some bad ones. Some will last for years of hard work, while others may not. When the subject comes up, they just assume that someone bought the cheapest they could and will wash for nothing. Low Baller is seldom used in the true sense, but more for a quick way to bash someone. And just because soemone cut your price in half, doesn't mean they are a low baller either. They be doing the bait and switch, they may be basing their price on volume, or they may be as fast & Furious as greased lightning, so they spend less time on the job. I have read the threads that you speak of and see where you are coming from, but do not wory about it. Just do what you do best and drive on.
  25. What kind of wand is this?

You can use it for a chem gun on a shurflo/FloJet setup, or adapt it to a pump up instead of using the cheap wands that they come with. It has a use, just not on a standard 3000 psi machine.
