Wow, sure sounds clean, mine always looks like mud. Even the expensive truck mounts use the "scrub wand", as it is the cheapest to buy, and easiest to train someone on. In reality, the chemicals are supposed to do the work and you are just rinsing. I like the "Drag Wand" the best as it really sucks the water out. The original is made by Hydramaster (rotary jet extraction) and marketed as either the CMX-20, or RX-20. It can be used as a floor buffer, scrubbing machine, bonnet pad machine, or surface cleaner for concrete. This is accomplished by switching the pads on the bottom of the machine. The units that go to 3000 psi and offer 3.5 to 4 gpm will not heat the water for pressure washing, unless you have an add on heater like a propane hotbox. The heat exchanger can not keep up with that flow rate. The units are usually adjustable via the unloader. While most do not like to do this, it works fine, because carpet cleaning uses less volume and pressure.

Residential Tile & Grout Restoration
One Tough Pressure replied to dlamontm98's topic in Floor & Carpet Care
Derek, In regards to the HD & Lowes stuff, have you tried Aqua Mix, or the Tile Labs stuff? It is not found in the same section as the stripper and sealer made by Zep, but rather in the Tile section. These two companies make some good stuff, it is worth a look. Will mark your site and be back to look later. -

And I thought Texas was a big dustball. Is this PT car for real???? I like the CA style a little better. -

Looks nice. Like the background too, can't even see the neighbors wall. I'm moving. -
I offer residential customers a discount if they refer a friend and I get the job. It is not in the form of Cash back, but credit for either that cleaning, or a future cleaning if their work was already done and paid for. This gives them a deal and helps to assure that they will call back to use their credit.

I think the above applies to all States with maybe an exception on the Earthquakes. Crime just depends on where you go here, as with any State. Some places are just safer than others. We have been ranked as one of the Safest Cities in the Nation for a City with a population of over 100,000 for many years. Maybe those ordinaces have helped get us there.

I should have been a dealer so I could sucker the newbie and overcharge them since they did not do their homework.

Henry,Why not post them here so everyone can learn from your ideas? Jon,Those are not the outdated laws, those are the new ones. Out here, you need a solicitors permit from the City to do any type of selling where the customer did not call you first. It has a large picture of you, and it needs to be worn where it can be seen. They issue these after the PD does a background check on you. May seem overkill, but it is just another tool for them to cut down on scam artists. Hardly ever have people come to the door trying to sell stuff anymore, and the ones that do come are just kids doing fundraisers. One ordinance here is no passing of handbills without the property owners consent. That means that you can not pass them out in front of stores because no property owner will give permission, and you can't put them on cars as you need the property owners permission to be there, and the vehicle owners permission to place it on the car. Why did they draft this ordinance you may ask. To cut down on the trash left evrywhere by those that just throw the darn things on the ground, or drive down the street and let it fly off the windshield. Never cared for flyers, so I like the ordinance. And in this thread alone we have heard of three pesky old timers who were not happy and took action on flyers.

I am surrounded by cities that have a ordinance about flyers. Never heard of anyone actually getting in trouble though. Good luck in court. I do not leave flyers at all. I always have cards available, & offer my customer a discount if they recruit a neighbor.

I talked to a friend of mine who used to work for Lockheed. He said that the tiles are made of graphite, and when they need to clean them, they just replace the tile. I like Troy's theory of testing for loose ones. -
Bonding question?
One Tough Pressure replied to william stratton's topic in Documents, Forms & Proofs
You can look at this link www.suretycopac.com/ to get a little more info, and then go to the yellow pages and see what you have near you. Your insurance person may offer Bonding, or know someone who can. -
A dual lance runs on one hose. In order for the lance to draw soap, you need to have a downstream chemical injector installed in the line. The downstreamer has a branch line that when the pressure is lowered by the lance, it pulls soap and injects it into the regular pressure line.

Bonding question?
One Tough Pressure replied to william stratton's topic in Documents, Forms & Proofs
Most janitorial companies are bonded. They have employees inside of a building where theft is easy. The bond they carry is to satisfy the customer that if an employee steals they have insurance. The common bond rate in CA was $7500. and just increased to $10,000. It is a kind of like a loan. You pay your monthly premium to be bonded, and if the bond gets used, then you repay what was paid out, unlike insurance where you pay the deductible and the insurance company pays the rest. -
NASA Power Washes Space Shuttle
One Tough Pressure replied to newlook's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Since they are on the Shuttle, we know they can handle some incredible pressure. I would also think that they would not want to put chemicals on the shuttle either, so if it is water blasting, I am sure that it serves a really good purpose. -
Did You Know? Tile & Grout Issues
One Tough Pressure replied to dlamontm98's topic in Floor & Carpet Care
The Steel Eagle Little Floater that you are speaking of is a good unit. I have the 12" one and with a 4/3000 psi cold machine, it works well. How much pressure you can use on tile and grout depends on a few variables. I have some that I use 3000 psi on and others that are low pressure only. I always use a surface cleaner, as the wand is to messy for indoor work. -
F-13 and Gutter Shock?
One Tough Pressure replied to svp07's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I just found mine, and I actually have the F-18. I got it to try out on grease and oil, and could not imagine washing houses with it. -
I have not seen the msds for Outdoor bleach. I will have to pull the msds that I have, but I think it is for the commercial germicidal ultra clorox. Off for a week so it will not be soon.

Sounds more like water blasting rather than pressure cleaning. -
F-13 and Gutter Shock?
One Tough Pressure replied to svp07's question in Residential Pressure Washing
F13 is a sodium hydroxide based cleaner, so yes it is an alkaline. I have a sample, but it got misplaced, so have not had a chance to test it out yet. One of these days I will come across it. Everything I have heard about it is very positive. CCHSNC, What ratio do you use for housewashing with F-13? -
Did You Know? Tile & Grout Issues
One Tough Pressure replied to dlamontm98's topic in Floor & Carpet Care
I have applied sealer to tile by mop, roller, and sprayer. They each work well and each have their own place. Each manufacture has their own theory as well. It is a trial and error/personal preference thing. -
Hydro tek Surface cleaner swival problem
One Tough Pressure replied to John T's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
What kind of rotary union does the hydro tek use. I bet Bob from Pressure Tek can answer this, and he may also have the swivel or rebuild kit in stock.
