Reed, Federal law applies to all States. I am not sure if each State needs to incorporate Federal law into the States, but the law is there. Enforcement on the other hand may not be there. John T, I am not getting smoked, as I go after work that you and most washers can not do. Interior work is out there but without the right equipment, you will not get it. As far as getting out of the business due to air pollution, I have equipment that meets the specification of the Air Qulity Control laws. My equipment is no more polluting than anything else that uses fuel for power.

We have 5 kids between my wife and I,the very least we can do is try to leave them a clean place to live after we are gone from this earth.A very good point and everyone should be able to see this clearly. When someone buys a property adjacent to a gas station, dry cleaner or garage an environmental impact study is done. If there are chemicals found on that property who do you think they go after to clean the site up? And who gets sued in the process This may very well be you, and it does not have to be one of the sites mentioned above. Lawsuits always look for scapegoats. I won't waste my valuable time playing with reclaiming equipment and not making anymore $$$ in doing so. Understood, but if you can make the same money you make now doing PW or make no money at all as you need to find a new business to run and then conform to other laws, then which would you pick? well what happens when the Fire Dept. that pumps 1000 gallons a minute from only 1 pumper, they will also have to reclaim or be fined right As I have read a few times, "water used for firefighting purposes is exempt under the CWA" There are many violations of the CWA daily such as sprinkler runoff and rain for example. Rain is not enforceable and sprinkler runoff is very minimal is comparison to any pressure cleaning application. Your comments on making places like Wal MArt put in drains that go to the sanitary sewer are in place for places like gas stations and car washes. At least around here. Any new construction of places like those have the long grates at the end of the driveway and go to a sand trap and then the sanitary sewer. that means every person in the USA , that washes their car on their driveway has to legally reclaim their wash water..? or be fined,? Around here they encourage people to wash their cars on the lawn or in a dirt area. Yes if the water goes down the drain it is a violation, but the local authorities and the EPA are out looking for people who profit, not the homeowner. Mobile detailers here recover water when washing at a person house or they will be fined. I will restate what I said earlier, incase anyone missed it. Just because you reclaim is no guarantee that you are going to make any more money, but it will help you in making money and not losing it as a fine can be very costly, and may destroy some washers completely. Recovery equipment can be very cheap to very costly. It depends on what you are washing, where you are washing it, and what you need to do with the water. Sure there are some very expensive systems out there, but is that what everyone needs? No it isn't, we all have to look at our individual business and see what applies the most. Recovery is not hard, does not take that much time.

Hope others read that thread or you have just really confused them. -
There is no reason to double costs because of reclaim. That is a large part of the problem. People think they can make bank when recovering. This is not always true. Setup takes more time, but not that much time, and depending on what type of equipment you use it can be rather quick. I recover my water for these reasons. It is the law and I am a legitimate and legal contract cleaner. The use of chemicals has no bearing on the recovery laws. Pressure cleaning equipment puts water into the processed water category. Straight clean tap water is not legally allowed in the drain, so why would anyone think that just using even a cold water unit is okay. Recovery applies to all washing where the wash water will make it into other bodies of water. So whether it be the lake, stream, river, ocean etc, the Clean Water Act applies. The CWA is a Federal law. No state can change the rules of the CWA. They can add to it, but they can not take away. As with alot of Federal laws, they rely on the local agencies to help enforce it. This is not always done, but the law is still there and enforceable.

Reclaim is reclaim, residential, commercial Industrial. True some do not want to pay for it, and others do not want to do it at all. It is not really that hard, nor time consuming to do. For some reason, everyone thinks that it takes so much extra time. Depending on what you wash and how you recover it, will make the time vary, but I do not spend more than 20 minutes for set up and breakdown of recovery. I have read of deck cleaners that recover water, and would like to see some pictures of that. I can imagine that taking more time than I use.

Don't you wish you could be sarcastic?

A man gets pulled over for speeding, and not wanting to make any sudden moves, he justs sits there until the officer comes to the window. The officer comes up and is frustrated that the man is just sitting there, doing nothing. He knocks on the window, asks the guy what is taking you so long, get out your license and registration. The man begins to explain that he is not from around here and did not want to make any suspicious moves. The officer is not impressed and suddenly knocks the guy on the head with his baton. Shocked and scared the guy shuts up and just sits there, as the officer walks over to the passenger side of the vehicle. He knocks on the window over there and the passenger roles his window down. Before the passenger can say a word, he gets bonked on the head with the baton. Very upset and vocal, he says what in the heck did you do that for? I didn't do anything. The officer replies that's for later. Not understanding, the passenger asks what do you mean for later??? The officer says oh believe me, if I did not do that, you would of gotten a mile down the road and told your buddy, I wish he would of tried that head knockin with me. -
Rob, After seeing that picture with the gas station cleaning this came up. Jon and I both reclaim and always like to get new ideas for future use. Since we did not see the standard setups in the picture, we were wondering what you use.

It is the Veteran who salutes the Flag!

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion. It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble. It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the VETERAN, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote. It is the VETERAN, who salutes the Flag, who serves under the flag ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM O LORD, AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM. - Author Unknown. -

Firefighter Who Died Described As Well-Loved Man Leaves Behind Wife, Two Children POSTED: 6:43 a.m. PST October 30, 2003 UPDATED: 6:58 a.m. PST October 30, 2003 SAN DIEGO -- The first firefighter to die in Southern California's latest wildfires is being described as dedicated, hard-working, and well-loved. Steve ********** was a 38-year-old fire engineer from the 6162 Novato Fire Protection District who died while battling flames Tuesday. Novato is in northern California. His fire chief, Jeff Meston, told NBC's "Today" show that **********'s loss is difficult not just for his family but for the community in which he was very involved. Meston said ********** made the ultimate sacrifice. **********, according to Meston, wanted to come to southern California to help fight the fires. Jim Wright of the California Department of Forestry tells the "Today" show that firefighters know they have a job to continue. He said they will keep battling the fires to bring them to an end as quickly as possible. ********** was among 20 people whose lives have been claimed as a result of the blazes. He leaves behind a wife and two young children.

Yes a surface cleaner makes a huge difference. Imagine mowing the lawn with a weed wacker as compared to a lawn mower. Not only will the weed wacker take more time, but making it even is even more trouble for large areas. The surface cleaner is vary similar to the mower in that you can cover more area faster and the height of the tips is the same, which makes for an even cleaning.
