Nikro Dual Head
One Tough Pressure replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Craig, What is the cause of the drum wearing out? I have a sneaky feeling it may be the acid you are using in prep work. Stainless drums cost around $700.00 in my searching, but before you go that route, you may want to try a plastic drum liner. They slip in like a rigid trash bag. Are you replacing motors from wear? Did you check the brushes first? -

Sending bypass water to grass?
One Tough Pressure replied to MMI Enterprises's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Well then stop trying to complicate things and set it up like most everyone here does and you will have no problems or concerns. Trying to reinvent the wheel has no purpose. Supply line with float is a line by itself. And the bypass from the unloader is a line by itself, that unless back yard engineered, should not be tied into the supply line. It sounds like you want to put the bypass line into the main supply line to save hose and then when the float kicks in, the bypass line would shut off as well. Run two seperate lines independant of each other. the ony link between them is that they connect to the same tank. If you have one of those integral unloaders, then forget it. -
Sending bypass water to grass?
One Tough Pressure replied to MMI Enterprises's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Kevin, A float will shut off the water from the supply line so it does not overflow the bucket, tank or whatever else you decide to use. Nothing will blow up as the incoming water will only flow when needed. Depending on the tank size and how long you leave it in bypass, you could overheat that supply as well. A 5 gallon bucket will help more than having nothing, but it truly depends on how long a period will go between your trigger pulls. -
So the info in the first post is said to be false. Urban Legends Reference Pages: Who Is Barack Obama? The picture of Obama without his hand over his heart is true, not a photoshop. However it is not during the Pledge, but rather the National Anthem. While it is normal for people to have their hand over their heart for the Anthem it is not a law and people can choose as they wish. Out of respect, he should, but I guess he did not feel like it. Urban Legends Reference Pages: Barack Obama and the National Anthem I think the guy is a knucklehead and needs to drop out. If he will not raise his hand for what we take as common practice then what else will he fail to do.

Hose Replacement
One Tough Pressure replied to copgib's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I wait until they burst and then change it out onsite. Depending on the hose, I may get it fixed or toss it for good. My hose ends are the first to go. I also drive down the wash area with hose on the ground, so 150-200 feet is a lot of weight to drag and makes them the reel end fail a bit early. I go slow to avoid excess friction, so my braids are not showing on the first day. I use swivels at the gun, and wrap the hose on the trailer a bit so the swivel does not get weight load by dragging. I can not imagine throwing a hose away or letting it sit just for the sake of knowing I have a newer hose on the reel. -
Cell phone etiquette with clients
One Tough Pressure replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Business Topics & Tips
My estimates do not take long. I meet for a few minutes and gather the basic info, then seperate from the client to measure and check for other things like water source and such. So I silence all calls without checking the number and will check voicemails/do callbacks when I am measuring so their is no long term delay. At the moment of meeting, they are the most important person, so they get undivided attention. -

Van Nuys, California (Lead)
One Tough Pressure replied to Barry M's topic in Contractor Help Wanted - Job Leads
The address does not correspond to the area, nor did the zip code that they gave. The phone number was a nextel and as Craig found, that did not match anything either. Either somebody is playing around, or a new hack is trying to gather pricing info. -

I do not do very much residential anymore, however if nobody else would like it, I will take a look. We have a few lurkers from this area who may just come up for air when money is involved. -
Weird coxreel or I am blind :)
One Tough Pressure replied to Aries EC's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
So you are saying that there is no swivel on the side of the reel where the whip hose hooks up, and no pipe fitting either 3/8" or 1/2" on the center tube. Did you spin the reel a few times to see if it was on the back or bottom side? -

I would like to hear what most people would consider to be their best ideas to incorporate into a trailer. To put a limit on it, I will say that it will be pulled with a minimum of a 3/4 ton pick up or better. I was kicking around the idea of a flatbed over the wheel trailer so that the sides could have tool boxes underneath, a hose reel at the rear center (under), and fuel or chemical tanks below the deck as well. I know a trailer that size is not reasonable for residential work or smaller trucks. By the time it was done, it would be a $10,000 plus trailer which would still be an open trailer and have no equipment on it yet. So lets hear your wildest dreams for a pw trailer.

Then why even mention it Ron? I think I know what you refer to though, but hate to tell the wrong secret. I have seen pics and the the item I have in mind is not visible. -
Planning the best trailer
One Tough Pressure replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Yes Scott, I took the tank idea from Jon's rig. He had a 35 gallon tank wedged under there and saved a good amount of space on a very packed trailer. John, I would rather see a dirty Ford than a clean Chevy anyday. So you took the washer out of the enclosed and put it on the 550? Is the trailer just for parts and accessories now? I still like my slide in unit idea, but will not be able to carry everything even with cab over. If I am going to still need a trailer, then I might as well put it all on there. The trailer builder also builds top racks where a ton of lighter stuff could go. Of course as soon as I go that high, I will get calls for more garage cleanings. -
What holds up best to heavy weight? 460 gallons of water on a regular basis just to name a fraction of it.

Came across this site, and wondered if anyone knew about them. No I am not thinking of going for this, just wanted some feedback on it. Note that they are affiliated with Prosoco, Hence the name Concrete Science. Site has some good reading on it, so despite the price of their venture, it is worth looking into for the education factor. They also use Prochem carpet machines for their washers 3000@4.5gpm. The floor tool is the original Steel Eagle Fury tool, until they designed their own. Some nice looking trucks and trailers, to bad they are way overpriced. http://www.concretescience.net/main.php

I knew that, I was just mentioning that the tool they use is the original fury tool so people do not think Pro Chem copied Steel Eagle. For those that do not know, the original Fury system was a stripped down carpet cleaning machine with no pump, or heat exchangers. Basically just a rotary blower and an engine, but still housed in a monster of a cabinet and took up alot of room. Not that the new style is much smaller, but really refined and modern looking.
