  1. night mares I deal with at this time

In todays modern and high tech military, you would think that soldiers would be trained to recognize a HMMWV, whether it be day or night. They are very distinctive in size and shape and if it were night, then night vision would solve this. Multiple units in the same area should always be in contact and if your son got a call to chase another vehicle, then it shows that he had good commo. The driver and gunner on that other HMMWV should be disiplined to an extreme point for their close to fatal error. Friendly fire has been getting more and more coverage in the past few years, so you would think that they would be putting more emphasis on training our troops not to fire on each other. Bad enough going over there and getting hurt or killed, but when it is from friendly fire that just is not acceptable regardless of the stress of war.
  2. night mares I deal with at this time

Wow Reed! Glad everyone made it through this okay for the most part. Their minds are frazzled a bit and one guy will be hurting for a while, but at least no one got killed. Friendly fire is getting more and more common, but this was one of the better cases of it.
  3. Price

Just for info, if you just place the www. and the site name and then .com it will show as a hyperlink. If you put on the front and not the end, it will not. I changed these for ease of use.
  4. Are you having problems accessing the site? Important info here.

All the links that I have received lately contain the numeric url and do not work. I just delete the emails and use my regular bookmark and click new posts.
  5. should i buy the x-jet????????

Well, since you can not stand the x-jet I will give you a dollar for it and pay actual shipping , so as to take it off your hands. Do we have a deal?
  6. Fast and Furious

This board is mighty fast now. May even have to get a Recaro with a five point harness for my computer chair. The slowness and the bbs being down for awhile was worth the wait. I must say that I was kinda shocked when my 24 Hour banner came up as a polaroid of someones fence though.
  7. Hose in the House

Went to give a bid today for a patio. They have no access to the back, except for the house. I kindly explained that I will not take a hose thru their house, especially considering the white carpet. They said that it would be okay, but even with a waiver, I would not do it. Anyone here ever run a hose thru a house? If so, any problems?
  8. Hose in the House

Residential is a good money maker for me, as I charge them quite a bit. The above job was $.50 a sq ft for concrete cleaning. Commercial work is steady, but residential pays dearly.
  9. I came across this on a carpet cleaning website and was sort of shocked to see it selling for $1000. Looks to be the 16" whisper wash classic and it is modified for tile and grout cleaning. Supposed to work like the Fury system, despite the fact that it has no baffling. Quite some time ago, I was asking on the boards if this could be done and a select few who had some experience, said no it is not that simple. At the time I was giving thought to modifyng my Steel Eagle, but was never brave enough to pop holes in it.
  10. Is this a whisper wash?

You know, I did consider the drain pan, and ran out to measure it. Mine is 16.5", so it will not work on my 24" cleaner, but would probably do the job for an 18" one. Will make a trip to look for bigger drain pans. I wonder how much it would cost to have a inner shell made, or just order one from Steel Eagle? Will have to wait until Monday for that.
  11. Is this a whisper wash?

So here is the update. I by chance got to speak to a guy who has some experience in this field and he says that the water recovery is not a problem, it is the suction of the vacuum slowing down the spray bar. Another concern is that everything washed away will be sucked up past the spray bar as well. So there is a valid reason that vacuum recovery surface cleaners should have a dual shell. Now all I need to do is find an iteml to fit my current cleanerto creat the shell effect, or I have to spend $2000. on a new Steel Eagle. Anyone have a 22 or 23 inch pie tin that they do not need?
  12. Hose in the House

So I hear back from the Flood Control District, and this is what they require. Keep in mind that I only want to run a vacuum hose and pressure hose down a dirt path and will not be driving on their property. Vehicle Insurance of 1 million Business Liability of 1 million Cashiers check for potential property damage of $2,000. (refundable) $70.00 permit application fee $50.00 gate key rental charge Not to mention my time involved in an 80 mile trip to the County offices to do the paperwork. This was supposed to be a small patio, about 300 sq ft. I was charging $150.00, but after the info from flood control, I would have to increase that to $300.00, to keep my profit margin the same.
  13. Get a load of this!

Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at an Elingsh uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht frist and lsat ltteer is at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae we do not raed ervey lteter by it slef but the wrod as a wlohe. For those that had a hard time with that, here is the correct version. According to a research at an English University, it doesn't matter in what order the letters in a word are. The only important thing is that the first and last letter is at the right place.. The rest can be a total mess and yuo can still read it without problem. This is because we do not read every letter by itself, but the word as a whole.
  14. As requested....short course on water towers..

Cale, Thank you for starting this thread here. Very interesting information. Question that you did not have in your list? What amount of insurance do they require in your area? What are the size of the tanks in the above pictures?
  15. New Jersey Parkways/Commercial trucks

John, Why not make a "call" down there? That way you would know for sure, and could even get there name for reference. In NY, can you not just say your on a stakeout and get away with it? LOL
  16. Avatars etc...

Guilty as charged. You did not need to mention names, the absence of my picture said more than enough.
  17. Avatars etc...

Okay, here it is. DISCLAIMER: If your monitor breaks from my picture, send Tony the bill, since it was his comments that made me do it.
  18. Hose in the House

I do have access to a cold water machine, but I need my reclaim stuff in the back too. I can go with Tim's idea, of run the hose in the vac line, but I am very hesitantwhen it comes to any equipment thru a house, and especially with white carpet. Still waiting for a reply from Flood Control.
  19. Get a load of this!

    fightin words there
  20. Get a load of this!

I got all six, but only because I had seen this before, and back then I only saw 3.
  21. Please Welcome Moderator Jim Foley!

Welcome Jim! Any relation to Axel Foley?
  22. Hose in the House

Tim, I did give some thought to that, and I have some brand new 2" that I can do it with. I still have this phobia, that if something bad can happen, then that would be the day. These are townhomes and other than thru the unit, there is no access. The garage let's out in the house, the roof is a metal shingle type, and having walked on them before, I will not do it again, as they bend easy. The other way is to run 200 feet of hose down the street and around the corner, over the wall in the flood control channel and over their 12 foot wall. I opt for this, but legally I need permission from the flood district to enter their property, and so far, I have not gotten a return call.
  23. Removing Laytex Paint

MEK- Methyl Ethyl Ketone is some seriously nasty stuff. Can it be used on wood? I looked at the Bix MSDS, and it does not say anything about MEK as an ingredient. http://www.bixmfg.com/bixmsds.htm
  24. Is this a whisper wash?

I am going to try Scott's idea first. A couple of bucks in wood is probably the best idea, no need to disfigure a good surface cleaner. If it was not for Scott, I may have done just that.
  25. Get a load of this!

Not really, I copy and pasted out of an e-mail I received.
