Paul, You have to wonder why he would hire you for the siding when he has a friend that will loan him a pressure washer and show him how to use it. Sounds like he is stuck on the fence. -
Glad he made it home safe, now you can breathe a little easier, as will his fiance. Hope Mike gets back in time for the wedding also. An additional Thank you from me, as they did a great job.

Look out I am thinking again!
One Tough Pressure replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Okay I guess I did not explain it very well. I am not talking about PTO Carpet Cleaners, but rather the skids that use their own engine. As far as 3k for a rebuilt 20 HP, I have not seen numbers that high. I was looking for them on the net the other day and found some new Honda GX620 20 Hp for $1300. The heat exchangers run off of the exhaust from these and the rotary blowers that they use. If I were to do this, I would get a larger engine, probably on the watercooled side, big gpm pump and one fantastic vacuum to go with it. Call it the Fury without the price and it would wash too. -
Dwell time for Oxalic Acid on Concrete
One Tough Pressure replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Chemicals & Safety
It depends on the job, if I can get away with hot water only or if I need any chems. Are you saying that Oxalci needs chems to do the brightening? If so what? Do you use Oxalic for Concrete and if so what is your process? -

Paul, You say more wear and tear on the larger engine, but many carpet cleaning consoles (skid) have 16 to 20 HP V twins, so the cost is the same there. Ron, The carpet units I have looked at use from 3.5 to 4.5 GPM, one more gallon per minute @ 5.5 does not seem to be a huge difference. I have even seen a large PW company that uses a 4.5 gpm carpet machine for their wash unit. Tell me some more, as I am thinking about making some changes and this is one of them. -
Dwell time for Oxalic Acid on Concrete
One Tough Pressure replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Chemicals & Safety
Don't know, guess that I thought you should. Is that the problem? So then I should wash as normal, and then apply the Oxalic? Would it need to be mixed stronger since the surface is still wet from washing? -
Glad I made sense that time.

Hey Paul, I listen, I guess I need to define my answer. When I say "When can we start" I am asking the customer for the go ahead It does not work 100%, but I have had good results in many closings with that line. I guess that you can call it y asking for the job. Hope it makes sense this time.

I am looking for a pump that will handle hot water in the range of 190- 210 degrees. This will be mounted to the inside of my vacuum to pump the water to my reclaim system. I had a regular sump pump, but it shuts down after the first 20 minutes due to the heat. This pump will either need to be an auto on, or be able to run dry on occasion. Any Ideas???

wastewater Pump
One Tough Pressure replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
So the question is, if the pump is out of the vacuum tank and has a float valve to turn it on and off as does my other one. Then where will it get its water to float the valve, and how will the water get to the suction impeller? Or are you implying that I install it into another bucket and run them in tandem. This being the case, it will still be subject to the heat. -
So when can we start?

Diameter of a 30 gallon Steel Drum.
One Tough Pressure posted a topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Does anyone know the diameter of a 30 gallon steel drum. I am working on a little project and need to know, but am not sure where to go locally to measure one. Surely one of you folks has one of these available. Thank you -

One Tough Pressure replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Yes, in a round about way. The 16 gallon is actually easier to deal with and the size is fine. Had no idea that they had 16 gallon until I ran into one. -
Guess that is the reason for them hiding the money in the kennel. They just never learn.

Never did get an exact number, but did find a 16 gallon one locally and it was almost a perfect fit, so I made it work instead. -
All the money they spent for those weapons and almost everytime we find them, they are in the original crates. Go Figure?????

I have overlooked a safety item in my bag of tricks, a Respirator. I would like to hear what type others are using, so I can begin to see what I need to look for. Any and all comments are welcome. Thank you.

Finding good employees and good pads
One Tough Pressure replied to dlamontm98's topic in Floor & Carpet Care
Guess I missed this one, when it was posted. What was the problem with the green pads? They do a fine job of scrubbing, however if you were stripping with them, then they probably got a little clogged up. Black and Brown pads are generally for heavy duty stripping and scrubbing, where as blue, green and red are for mild stripping, and scrub and recoat. I have used both 3M and SSS aka Triple S with great results on the floor and the life of the pad. -

Respirators
One Tough Pressure replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Thanks Paul, I think I would be better off going to a store and getting some live help, since I am new to these. After I know exactly what I need and like, then I can go online for the deals. -
Down Streaming Sodium Hydroxide
One Tough Pressure replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Chemicals & Safety
Thank you Paul! I have not up or down streamed acid, I use a pump up or garden watering can to apply it. As far as the respirator, I will add that to my Field trip list. I do wear eye protection and ear protection, but admit I was lacking in the Lung protection, and having Asthma, I should of known better. Thank you again. -
I agree with you 100% on that one

One Tough Pressure replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Chemicals & Safety
Morgan, As far as the 1000 lbs or 121 gallons, being carried on a trailer. I am sure very few do this, as it would take up alot of room and they best have some very large structures to wash. You say that Tony should get a bigger trailer if he needs more room, I take that as a knocking for his preference over powder to save room, and add an extra bit of safety to his storage technique. Powders are more economical, safer for transport and storage, more satble and less prone to breakdown of substances and if needed, are easier to clean up if there was an accidental spill. Now Morgan, as you said, you have not had any spills, well they do happen and sometimes at the worst possible time, are you ready for a liquid cleanup?? Do you have POWDERS that absorb and contain Liquid chemical spills to provide for a safe and fast cleanup? We all have our preferences on what we like and why we like them, but when you first replied to this post, it sure did seem like a bashing of products for multiple reasons. You said later that you did not mean any harm, but then it continued. If for some reason you hear that a product is delayed, be ready to post where you heard or saw it in detail so when people would like to look into it they can.
