I am suprised that in 4 years, nobody has seen and commented on this. The company is still around, but i have never seen any of their trucks or trailers.

torsion or leaf spring
One Tough Pressure replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Jeff, Get an F-450 and you will have no more turning problems. The front track is wider and turns very well. I recently snapped some of the leaf spring straps that connect the spring to the equalizer, and aside from unsafe, it was a pita to replace them on the side of the road. -

torsion or leaf spring
One Tough Pressure replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Oh, Jeff now you asked for it now. If you bought a real truck to begin with, then their would be no need for airbags. All I can say is S U P E R D U T Y!!!!!! I am starting to wonder why I even have a trailer, and not just put everything in the back of the truck. A 3 ton will carry a lot. -
torsion or leaf spring
One Tough Pressure replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Sounds like the Hydro Tek sales pitch, as I know they use these axles. I am not sure of the price difference between leaf and torsion, but it can not be that much. The air bags is a whole different story, but knowing what my max and ideal weight is may not require any air bags. -
torsion or leaf spring

Anyone else have input on this? I was at the trailer shop yesterday and this place swears by torsion axles. -
If you really thought it was a viable tool, then just buy extra batteries. That long charge time is when run down completely, so if you were to charge between jobs and have an extra battery or two, then no problems, as long as it would hold up to heavy use.

Help!! What do you pull your trailer with?
One Tough Pressure replied to LCPW's question in The Club House
With water on every site, I was fine with one of my 230 gallon tanks. I know a guy who uses a 50 gallon tank and says that he has no problem. -
Help!! What do you pull your trailer with?
One Tough Pressure replied to LCPW's question in The Club House
Here is a link for a 16 foot trailer with some spec for you to consider. It is actually closer to 3000 pounds for the trailer, and then add your shelves that you mentioned and equipment to come out with a very heavy trailer. Welcome to Golden West Trailer Sales - Quality and dedicated Trailer Sales What kind of work will you be doing, & what kind of equipment will you be getting? Do you really need 500 gallons? Heavy when full, very large footprint, and incredible slosh if not full. You may not need such a large tank, and that would help solve some of your potential problems. -

Different liquids have different weights. That 128 ounces is fluid ounces. Before you go calling me crazy, you better check yourself, as your genius is not showing. -
Help!! What do you pull your trailer with?
One Tough Pressure replied to LCPW's question in The Club House
Water weighs 8.34 lbs per gallon so if the tank wqas full then you would have 4170 in just water alone, add in the 50 gallon chem tank of 417 and the weight of the tanks at around 150 and you have 4737. Trailer will be around 2000 lbs, so we are up to 6737, and the average skid washer weighs 600-900 lbs. Unless you get a very large enclosed trailer, then you will most likely end up keeping items in the SUV as well. It will get old removing them each day, unless you want to drag it around. An SUV will pull the trailer, and if the trailer has brakes on at least one axle, it will stop it safely as well. The main issue is durability. If you tow that trailer often, the vehicle will wear out at a faster rate than a larger one. -

One Tough Pressure replied to John T's question in The Club House
John, If you really wanted to go then you would. If you are afraid of that other person then you won't. You make the choice. -
100% correct

If your going to part with that money and want to feel okay with your decision, then you best get a Ford.

60 hours a week? Is that all that most of you work? Darn, what a bunch of couch potatoes.

I wish I could, to many will complain though.

And Scott nails it again, right on the money. Funny how so many expect to receive top dollar for their work, and yet they will not invest money in a top quality vehicle they both like and serves their need for durability and safety. Many will bicker about how they will walk away from jobs because the price was not to the customers liking and they will not lower their prices and discredit their image doing work that the customer has scoped out, due to fear for their image, but they will roll in shoddy vehicles. I guess if I was a 7 month a year washer then I may have to adapt that thought process.

You said new filters, so does that include the fuel filter that sits half way under the air cleaner housing? The hose that runs from the filter to the fuel pump is very short and weak. If you were to have pulled a little to hard when changing that filter, it may be pinched. When it gets a little warm it softens up and allows enough flow to keep it running. Pull the little plate that says "20hp" from the front of the engine. It is small and black and held with two screws. You can then see the hose and the tight loop that it makes, and determine if it is pinched, without pulling the entire air cleaner assembly.

Reducing shock/vibration on homemade skid unit
One Tough Pressure replied to Chris S's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Unless a gearbox is as solid as a direct drive, then it seems as though there would be some play in the connection of the two and the gears. You do not want that pump sloshing around on rubber. I checked my unit for some rubber cushions, forgot to mention earlier it is the tires the trailer sits on. -

One Tough Pressure replied to Chris S's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I know nothing about gear drives, but it seems that flex from the pump is a real bad idea, but why do you feel you need this? I have an All American skid and there is no rubber anywhere, but Yes it is a belt drive. As feet for the skid, but nowhere else in my opinion. -

So Jeff, why was a girl in a bathing suit in your work area? Seem as though this would be a safety issue, and in this case for your guys.

Seems like people like to build their own cleaning machines, but I have not seen any mention of building a hot box. Not to much experience needed for it, just a burner assembly, a coil source and the correct placement of a few switches, and some basic wiring. I am not sure what a coil and a wrap would cost, but seems like a fun prodject for the dollar savers. Grainger Industrial Supply: Burner,Oil 4NU98
