Melted Plastic on Concrete?
Douglas Hicks replied to NorthEastPW's question in Residential Pressure Washing
If it is a small area, would CO2 help?. Many grocery stores have solid CO 2 available. I do not know the temp of CO2, except it is cold. Use leather gloves to handle. -
It is time to change shirt suppliers. I have used Aramark/wearguard for 30+ years. Their web site sucks and they no longer have weekend phone service. Who are you you using and why?

My bug-out depends on the situation. If there is an hour or two, food, water, fuel, gen set, cold weather gear go in the Sprinter. Then a trip to the shop to get the camp trailer. If weapons were loaded, the same brand and model as Scotts. if the **** really hits the fan, nothing is going to save your butte. The immediate problem is food and heat. In most homes, the heat goes off immediatly, the water within 24 hours. The average grocery store is refilled every 2 or 3 days. Withing a week, if you are still alive and in a city, sanitation and dead bodies become a real disaster.

Who Is Certified By a Trade Org?
Douglas Hicks replied to Ron Musgraves's question in The Club House
I was IKECA certified. But to spend an additional $350.00 for another 3 years? Plus membership fees? Just did not seem worth the expense. -
High Pressure O Rings
Douglas Hicks replied to cfsculler's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
The only place I use quick disconnects is nozzle/wand. Hoses, and all other connections I use the twist locks. I get mine from Delco/Rahsco/Power Wash. But I expect other suppliers who advertise here also have the twist locks. -
Any Suggestions as to what is Wrong?

Have you checked the supply hose for air leaks? If you have a filter on the supply hose, is it plugged? -
Help understanding the "Ball-Valve and down-streamer" method.
Douglas Hicks replied to trugracie's question in Residential Pressure Washing
So it is an open gun, not guns with a trigger? I run 3,000 PSI but use a trigger gun for hoods. -

Questions related to getting started
Douglas Hicks replied to KGILL's topic in Business Topics & Tips
John forgot 1 detail. You will learn at least as much from the other attendees as the formal class. Take lots of business cards, pass them out like candy. Collect lots of cards. The vendors will want you to take all the literature you can carry. Take a folder, preferably one for each day. Breaks are where a lot of the learning occurs. Sit up front, unless you are like me. I sit in the back, so I can stand every so often. When I stop moving, I take a nap. Standing helps. After class, after most everyone else is hitting the bar, follow those who are not hitting the bar. You are not there to party, but to learn. In the evening, review your notes. Any questions, talk to the presenter if possible. At the end of the meeting, stay around. Meet more people and learn more. Go, meet and learn. And it is all tax deductable, so it all free! -

Wanna hear about my ankle, and a chain saw? Or my tibia and a chain saw? Or my thigh and a chain saw? How about when Bil got his saw hung up. He was taking the power head off, when the tree started to drop. I grabbed Bill's shirt and yanked him backwords. Tree missed him, saw was ok too. Or the time a tree fell on my pick-up. Just a small tree, not a big dent. Wife never sat in the cab while I was cutting again. Or is this thread just for pressure washing? -
Injector Problems - any Ideas?
Douglas Hicks replied to WashRite's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Air leak in the chemical line? Had that happen once. The plastic hose kinked and leaked. I trimmed the hose and fixed the problem. -
what to do about mildew deep inside wood?
Douglas Hicks replied to randy miller's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
oooh boy. you have both of the wimmens upset with you. If you don't get the signature thing fixed, the wimmens will start giving us other menfolk a bad time. I just looked at the picture of Celeste, she has a tear in her eye. You should be ashamed of your self! -
Another newby, do you want a free foamer also? Nice to see another old guy still upright and working. How is the book business doing?

Most powerful pressure washer
Douglas Hicks replied to jtbshaw's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Some of the trucks at BFD were equiped with 500 gallon tanks. You had better have made the hydrant going in, or the hoseman (me) was out of water -

Houses? I could do chinese resturants! -
We are going to the daughters for Christmas, But we are leaving early enough so I can stop at the jewelry store to get Dee a bright shiny thing. Ever notice how women are just like crows and blue jays. All 3 species like shiny things, but women like expensive shiny things.

Twist type connectors revisited
Douglas Hicks replied to WashRite's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I failed to mention that we use a "Chemical Manifold" that allows us to pull up chemical by dropping a hose into the lye solution. When done, we flush with dihydrogen monxide. This may help keep the twist locks functioning better over longer periods of time. -
Twist type connectors revisited
Douglas Hicks replied to WashRite's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I use the twist locks every place except a the nozzle. The only place I have a problem removing the twist lock is on the jmper hose from the pw to the chem injector and on the chem injector between the jumper hose and the reel.
