Orchard ladders for cleaning...
Douglas Hicks replied to jaysonrover's question in Residential Pressure Washing
But orchard ladders are much easier to "walk around" than the safer 4-legged ladders. When I pick-ed fruit, I could walk around a tree, and even from tree to tree. You did not want to let the farmer see you walking the ladder. -

Wet vacuum pump-out problems
Douglas Hicks replied to john@AEC's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
When I was experimenting with foamers, the chem companies kept trying to give me anti-foam samples. The automatic car wash guys use an anti-foamer. -
our parade was today. Our Lions club set up coffee and hot chocolate, and the burn barrels with mill ends to keep the fires going. The parade came by, the theme was What I want for Christmas. The church floats expanded with "What I want for Christmas is Christ in Christmas". Then the tree lighting took place. The lights did not come on for several minutes, and several tries. Lion Steve, the announcer took it in stride. Lion Steve also works for the local power company. Then we went to dinner. I went home, and Dee went back to work.

Lowering a trailer height by 2-3 inches
Douglas Hicks replied to John T's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Why the height requirement? Parking garages? And smaller tires means worse tires than are normally put on the trailers. My trailer only weighs about 3500 GVW and I got less than 500 miles on my rear tires until I went to pick-up tires on the rear axle. -

On of my customers asked me if I could help out with her fund Raiser
Douglas Hicks replied to John T's question in The Club House
I agree Scot, being quiet about your good works makes them truly good works. If a person keeps tooting their horn, I wonder why they are doing the good works. I find more satisfation in doing good works and keeping quiet. Speaking of good works, many local orgs can use extra help this time of year. Lions, Rotary and Kiwanis supply coats and shoes this time of year. Other groups do food baskets and toys for kids. When I was in JCs, one of our best activities was taking a few kids Christmas shopping. We got the names from a few elementry teachers. When I had 4 kids at home, money was tight, but not as tight as others experienced. Taking a child shopping got us into the Christmas mood quickly. Money can be designated for a particular project. I.E. Funds to the Lions Club can be designated for Senior Meals or Coats for Kids, and will not be used for Sight and Hearing. -

Douglas Hicks replied to John T's question in The Club House
I already bought some new tools recently. Now it is my turn. When you reach a certain age, you can put $6,000.00 in an IRA, and it is all deductable. -

hydrochloric acid .. safe to use on anything?
Douglas Hicks replied to John.Harper's topic in Chemicals & Safety
I started to share what I know about HF, before I remembered this new thing called wickipedia.Hydrofluoric acid - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia click on "safety"Cool pictures of HF burns. They talk about topical and IV treatments. MMS: Error. I also remember interossouse injection. If the picures of the chem burns did not make your orifices clinch, try this you can see an intraosseous injection using a drill. In the ER, the doc may not bother with anesthesia, he uses a big bore needle to inject calcium directly into the bone. And that will make you clinch! -

Isuzu box truck sitting for about 2 years, what issues will I find?
Douglas Hicks replied to Christopher's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I remember when I was thinking about an Isuzu type truck that I was told there was an issue with the automatic trans being good for about 200,000 miles. The trans was an Allison, but the affected years is something I do not remember. -

I have had 3 of my guys quit chew. Jon was the first about 5 years ago. He decided to stop, and did. Cold turkey, still off the nasty drug Matt was next, he stopped about a year ago. Did it for his kids, did not want them to get the addiction from him. Elliot has tried to stop chew several times, not successfull yet. I do not allow tobacco in my shop, work vans or at my house.

I found this on another BBS, his son was invited to the winter formal... Comments please, help out young love. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And the girl did one of those cutesy invites. (I don't know what happened to calling someone on the phone. A lost art, I guess) Anyways, it was a Tonka dump truck loaded with donuts, and inside the donuts were little pieces of paper, that were laminated with letters of her name, plus a few...and a note saying something along the lines of "I wanna haul your butt to winter formal" Questions is...He needs to accept, and needs a "g" rated way to respond that is cutesy, as well. Anyone got suggestions, following the theme of the invite? __________________

Do we get to see pictures of the couple? And the Tonka Truck and the response from you son?

Newbie is having trouble controlling Burner temp
Douglas Hicks replied to Badzuk's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Start by getting service manuals from the mfg for each machine. You will need wireing diagrams and pictures of the mechanicals, and contact information. Then, contact some of the advertisers. Deluxe from Texas is a company I have used, and will continue to use. Bob from Pressure Tek is good. Some have used EnviroSpec, do a search for the experience others have had with that company. Russ from Southside is a good perosn to know. http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/look-whats-new/6611-vendor-links.html A service company close by can be valuble. -
