What to use for hose tie downs?
C&S Property Services replied to Rob R.'s topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Rob, I use bungee cords even though my hose reels have a pin mechanism. Sometimes that pin just doesnt make me feel safe enough driving but with the cords over the hoses all they would do is roll and not become unraveled. -
Proportioners for Xjet
C&S Property Services replied to rick77's question in Residential Pressure Washing
There should be a ball valve on the hose from the Xjet to the bucket. It will vary on how strong you mix your chems to how "open" you want to keep the valve. Typical house 1.5 gallons bleach, 2 scoops SC and fill the 5 with water. This should take care of a 2000-3000 sq ft house. If its filthy you may need to make the chems stronger. -

16hp Charging Amps
C&S Property Services replied to Mountain View's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Pete, You should be fine. I had a Hydrotek with a 16hp and had a hot box hooked up to it. Never had a problem. Good luck with it... -

Most of all my stuff is secured whether in a van, garage, etc...but I am thinking (and possibly hoping) that they saw the generator had like 8 bolts holding it down. That will take some time. And I think what brought the curiosity is the water cannon pump (which is also bolted down numerous times) and the extra fire hose I had on board. I think there was like 500 foot of fire hose and my thinking is that they probably thought it was wire. Meanwhile, the cameras are being installed and the firearms loaded...I still think a Rott or Pit chained to underneath a trailer is better than a GPS system...lol Sorry trying to have a sense of humor about this while still pondering what the heck they were doing. All you guys have interesting stories and I feel lucky that I have only had one where someone actually came up to me and told me they were going to steal my stuff....that was a moment of love. I sprayed a mist on the guy and told him it was acid. Needless to say he could have made the Olympics in the 50 / 100 and 1000 meter...BTW I had never used an acid and it was only water as I dont downstream.

Guys, I will have to say I would only mix it right before the job now. I made a house wash mix last year and let it sit overnight as I wanted to leave out early and thought this would save me some time. What I got the next morning was SNOWBALLS. The mix had crystallized into what looked like snowballs. Some were small and some were large. I thought someone was messing around as a joke and called all the guys in. We all got a kick out of it. I did talk to Bob (PressureTek) and he told me that it can happen (if I remember right) if the temperatures are below a certain temp, etc... So I would suggest calling him if you are using his products. BTW the mix I was using at that time was not SC but was another product.

Trailer size needed?
C&S Property Services replied to plainpainter's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Daniel, There are several different options you have. You can use a smaller (approx.50-100 gallon) tank as a "float tank" and feed the water hose from the residents house as needed. If you have a van you can even install a water tank in there. Of course these 2 options are to try to stay within the weight limit of a single axle. Just an idea. Other options are to look around at who is selling trailers and see how they are set up. This would probably mean going to a bigger trailer. Good luck. -

Wood Restoration class
C&S Property Services posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
With all the mishaps and etc. around the PWNA I thought this would be interesting to everyone involved. I took a Wood Restoration class and received my PWNA certification earlier this year. However, with the PWNA attending the NADRA (Deck Expo) they are offering the same class. It does not say if this is a PWNA certification but does say it goes towards NADRA's. My question to ANYONE who could give me an answer is why in the world did I pay 799$ for a PWNA class when the same class is being offered for 495$ to NADRA members and 545$ to Non-members. The way I figure it out is if I had went to Vegas I could put the savings towards the NEW PWNA membership. Can anyone justify why the difference in price? Please feel free to answer if you can cause at this time I cannot. Rob Huffman Aspen Contractors 443 307 7662 -
oil stains
C&S Property Services replied to sflasealcoatinginc's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Rod, The BT100 is from EatOils (www.eatoils.ca). They are in Canada but ship out of NY and I received my stuff in 2 days time. The Light Duty Concrete Cleaner is from Prosoco (www.prosoco.com). I would stay away from the Heavy Duty of Prosoco as I was told it will etch the concrete. Then Vseal and Delco sells the Re-Krete powder formula. Dont know if thats the name for both those companies. If you spread this one its looks great with no power washing. However it will fade in time and stains come out. So what I would suggest is to use the powder first and then go back with the BT100 or LDCC. I personally favor the BT100 since you can spray it after you have done every thing and it will still work after you leave the site. Hope this helps some. The kitty litter is the same purpose/idea as the powder formula but I am not sure if its as effective. Rob Huffman Aspen Contractors 443 307 7662 -
oil stains
C&S Property Services replied to sflasealcoatinginc's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Beth/ Rod, Prosoco has some good products however if you use them make sure you do ALL the concrete. When I used them I didnt and got what looked like bleach spots. So I had to re-do what I already did. Eatoils BT100 seems to really clean the concrete good. I actually use BT100 now and when I finish I go back with a pump up sprayer and spray again and let it sit. As long as the concrete is wet you shouldnt get any of the "bleach" spoting I received with Prosoco. You could use the Re-Krete (dry powder form)from V-seal before you power wash. Then once thats applied go back and power wash. May have to do the area more than a one time cleaning with anything to remove the "shadow" stain from the oil. Hope this helps some. Just my 2 cents... Wood Restoration class
C&S Property Services replied to C&S Property Services's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Sorry to everyone that I have not posted sooner. I have been busy with the holiday. I did receive a call verifying that the class is different. The materials being taught are different and will not have all of the information the PWNA certified class has. Rob Huffman Aspen Contractors 443 307 7662 -
Wood Restoration class
C&S Property Services replied to C&S Property Services's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
According to NADRA's Deck Expo website its the same as what Alliance offers for PWNA members. Nothing is mentioned however on use of the NADRA's logo. Anyone want to offer an explanation on the price difference? Thanks, Rob Huffman Aspen Contractors 443 307 7662
