dark red ready seal fence
Tom DeFrancesco replied to garcii2's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
The fence looks awsome. In regards to the gate, do you remove the hardware or tape it off really well ???? -
If you are just starting out, I would not necessarily jump to an 8 gpm. It is quite the investment. I would start with a 5 gpm hot though. I started with a lousy 2800/3gm portable then to a 4000/4gpm portable both cold and finally got a 5.5 gpm hot skid from Tom Vogel @ ACR. Tremendous difference. Build yourself up. No need to spend thousands and thousands right off the bat.

I agree with Tim, time is money. You definately need more pressure and GPM for a decent size surface cleaner. I went from a 16" to a 28" and it cut my time in half.

I too must give a world of thanks to everyone especially Beth & Rod for running this site. And Jim Bruno for taking me under his wing. I have learned a great deal and now realize how much is actually invoved in pressure cleaning. I have a whole new respect for it now. To think, I was balancing on a ladder with a wand and Big Box cleaner utilizing a 2800/3gpm machine getting soaking wet while doing a house wash and taking 4 hours on a basic colonial for peanuts. Now X-jet, 4gpm machine, citra & 12%, etc.... not a drop of water on me and done in an hour. Thaaaannnnkkkk Yooouuuu TGS.

Graffiti on Aluminum Siding
Tom DeFrancesco replied to Richard's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Rich, as always do a small area first. I used it on painted aluminum and it worked great but as Steve said it might leave a slight shadowing. When doing any type of grafitti removal i always tell the customer there is a chance of shadowing. I personally thing tag is the best thing on earth. -
Kurt, Go with a hot water machine. You will not regret it. Even if you are doing strictly residential. People are going to want there walkways, driveways and or patios..etc.... cleaned. I have been using cold water but using a ridiculous amount of chems. Hot makes a world of difference. Remember, you do not ALWAYS need to use the hot. It can be used as cold water also. Good luck with your decision.

Poll: What type of pressure washing rig do you use?
Tom DeFrancesco replied to mdspowerwashing's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I have an E350 extended van with a 2800/3gpm & 4000/4gpm cold machines with a 300 gal tank, 3000 watt gen, 16" surface cleaner, 100' hp hose on a rapid reel 50' coiled extra, 15' & 50' of garden hose, 12 gal shop vac, 24' ext wand, ext poles, brushes, buckets, cabinet w/ chems and tools, 2 sets of rain gear. I need the tank for the some of the fleet work which has no water supply. I need to seriously re-configure this truck so I can get a 3500/6gpm skid in there. Trailer I think is just not feasible. Can only fit two cars in my driveway and I am limited to one spot where my truck is. I like using the 3gpm for the fleet washing because I know exactly how many I can do with the amount of water I have. A second truck would be great but not in the cards the cards this year. -

Suggestions on which HOT PW to purchase
Tom DeFrancesco replied to Tom DeFrancesco's question in Residential Pressure Washing
No John, I only remember you recommending Ind Equip in Kings Park. Went to see him but he was not there. Called me later that day. Nice guy. Mi-T-M is a nice machine for the money but the hydrotec is more compact and conducive to the amount of space I have to work with in my truck. Nothing is in stone. i will check out acr now. Thanks again John. -

strange encounter with competition
Tom DeFrancesco replied to DustinC's topic in Business Topics & Tips
I publicly want to thank Jim Bruno. He is going way above and beyond to teach and help me with my transformation from mobile detailer to a professional power washer. Right from the start when i first started posting I wrote that i was new in Washingtonville and did not want to step on any toes. He stepped right up and volunteered his services. Ken, you cannot always think that is going to happen. (Student surpass the teacher) There was a small group of detailers (about 5 of us ) that stuck together and constantly referred work to one another. It was a great system. I could be sticking my neck out slightly also because he will know everything I have and can do and can easly talk a customer into not using me. I met Jimmy in person and talked numerous times on the phone. He is a genuine and sincere buisnessman as myself. I am sure he is quite capable of judging how a person is going to be. The moral of this drawn out story, "Make a business friend not a business enemy." -
I assume you are talking about cleaning both the leaves and black streaks for these prices ? Cat, 10-20 min ?????
