Woodies - measuring question

Question

Based solely upon this information, what do you come up with for a square footage?

"I am building a 500+ sq. ft. ipe deck with a 12' by 16' redwood pergola in a sunny area north of San Francisco. The pergola is three-tiered with 4x6 posts, 2x8 beams, 2x6 joists and 2x3 rafters."

I'm having trouble with this one.

Exactly. I am assuming the pergola is also not built so no pics. I requested a drawing but doubt one is available in a digital format.

(PS: I'll give you a ring tonight.. in the middle of twenty things right now)

I know what you mean it's tough to estimate sqft without some kind of drawing or pics.

Ok i was wanting to ask you some Q's on a peeling painted deck.

Ken

I would assume the type they refer to steps down with each level up. If that is the case they usually use the 3:5 ratio. So If the first level was 10 sqare feet the next would be 6 and so on.

Pictures are worth 1000 words.
