Beth n Rod 1,279 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 NEW YORK — A window washer fell 47 stories to his death Friday; his brother also fell from the same scaffold, but survived, though he is in critical condition, according to The New York Times. Edgar Moreno was killed in the fall from the Solow Tower at East 66th Street and Second Avenue; his brother Alcides is fighting for his life at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Hospital, the story stated. A relative of the brothers told the Times that they had expressed concerns about the safety of the scaffold, but had been assured by a supervisor that the scaffold had been fixed, the story noted. The brothers were employed by City Wide Window Cleaning of Jamaica, Queens, the story added. Click here to read the full article. For related information, click here. plainpainter 217 Report post Posted December 11, 2007 My friends grandfather use to do that work. He saw too many comrades fall to their death, and decided to eventually open a diner on Nantucket - those were the days before platforms - where they just had ropes behind their backs.
