MMI Enterprises 289 Report post Posted September 3, 2008 Help!.. I have blown seal in my main quik connect female that comes out through bulkhead off my units thermostat. Can't seem to break free to change it out. I've braced thermo from turning back behind bulkhead with pipe wrench and but smaller vice grips used up front on the quik connect just stripping it after first trying open end wrenches and crescent wrench. The connects design is too thin where wrench goes to get a pipe wrench on.... what to do what to do?? Heat?. saw off the sliding quik part and use a socket?.. HELP!! :). Russ Johnson 141 Report post Posted September 3, 2008 saw off the sliding quik part and use a socket?.. HELP!! :). Can you get the collar slid back? Get a small screwdriver and pop the retaining ring out of the end, and the collar will slide forward and off. Your balls will fall out, so don't step on them...wait...the bearings will fall out. Then maybe you can get a pipe wrench or socket on it.
MMI Enterprises 289 Report post Posted September 3, 2008 thanx Russ! Will give that a shot..my bearings rather than my balls that is. :)
MMI Enterprises 289 Report post Posted September 4, 2008 Well that worked out..had never popped one of those apart before. Still had to grind the tip off so as to pound a socket on to the stripped hex part.
