need help with lettering on tank

Question

Hello Everyone,

I was having my 325gal water tank lettered yesterday along with my tool box and after an hour the letters started peeling off of the water tank. The water tank is either polyethelyene or polypropylene and I need help with how to get the letters to stick. Maybe I need to paint the ends of the tank so the letters will stick. The Painter said that the paint will have to be a gloss enamel for the letters to stick. The Painter had never lettered a tank before and did not know what to do. The letters and numbers were vinyl with adhesive..The Commercial ones, not just the ones you buy at the store. Does anyone have any ideas? Anyone run into this problem before? Please help. Thanks.

Chris

I posted this somewhere else too but I don't remember where..lol

Make sure your tank is full, then dry the tank and use isopopal alchohol on the area first, let it dry then apply the letters.

When the tank is filled it expands and that will pull the letters off.
