decker 14 Report post Posted September 17, 2009 I wanted to try cedar plank salmon on the BBQ, so I check out the cedar planks at the grocery store - $$$ and it was full of splinters. I figure I could just go to HD and pick up some cedar sand it down and be ok. Check out the comment section here: Cedar Plank Grilled Salmon|The BBQ Report Is it safe to cook on cedar from HD? It shouldn't be treated with anything, so I figure it should be good to go.
0 James 625 Report post Posted September 17, 2009 It is going to be cedar ! I used Alder and cedar . Just sand it and cut into thin planks. You soak in water before grilling. Best way I have ever had salmon !! I sent my son to Alaska a couple of years ago and we had salmon often after his visit and always on planks..........yumme !
