Cleaning walls painted with cheap water paint ?

Question

Hi I am new to this forum and would like to post my first Question.

I see some new Business opportunities in our area.

In our area most of the Shop fronts are very dirty.

It is mainly light fatty stains from people touching the walls.

The walls are mostly painted with cheap water paint. (PVA) As they call it here.

Some of it gets actually washed off by the rain.

Also the underlying plastering is brittle on most walls.

My main concern is not to damage the walls and not washing off the paint.

What mild chemical could I use? There is no mildew just fatty stains.

What water Temperature would you use?

What maximum Pressure do you recommend?

Looking forward to learn from other Peoples experiences.

I wouldn't use a pressure washer since the paint is already an issue, I would use a mild chemical (mild chlorine with dawn mix with water) and do a soft wash. caution: Inspect the area before applying anything, You may want to add painting towards your bid also! Since the paint is coming off... be expecting some repair work and free painting if not contracted properly if you use a pressure washer......Specially hot water system...

Also keep in mind the town may not like chemical run off hitting the side walk or street....

Good luck

Steve
