Staining only ONE side of a fence and lattice...

Question

Looking at staining one side of a standard PT staggered fence, with lattice on top - any way to do this without staining the neighbours' sides? I am mainly concerned about the lattice because I know there will be some tiny drips, at least.

DJ,

When you say "staggered", I would assume you mean a "shadowbox" design. If so and you are spraying, which is the only way to stain a fence, the answer is NO. Especially lattice, not doable unless you want to spend a week being a frustrated paint by numbers artist.

Fences can be a tough sell. Learned years ago to just walk if the customer does not want to prep and clean both sides. They are trying to save a buck without any concern for their neighbors.

If your customer owns the fence they are really responsible for doing the entire thing. If it's the neighbors fence you are in risky territory even if your customer has permission from the neighbor you are still staining someone else's property and that person is not your customer.
