Cleaner left white residue on deck

Recommended Posts

Hello,

New PT deck built in April.

Last week applied Cabot Problem Solver Wood Cleaner and pressure washed.

Now most of deck has left over white residue in the either "fuzzies" created by cleaner and/or in streaks created by too much power on the pressure washer.

I assume I did not keep the deck wet enough for the 15-20 minutes dwell time and it dried out?

However, sanding will take off the white.

My question is whether sanding is enough and/or do I need to worry about this residue having an effect after staining with a semi-sold stain.

First picture - third board from left sanded

Second picture - up close of white

Thanks for any input.post-9907-137772436796_thumb.jpg

That's not residue it's just the color of the fuzz. Problem solver is a bleach based cleaning solution so you may have to sit on there too long. It looks fine though and light sanding like you already did will do the trick

Within the first

year of new PT being exposed to the weather the wood doesn't degrade enough to be removed . I mean the little bit of grey you see with chem's or pressure. You either used bleach to remove the mold and rinse with no pressure or if you did what you did . Buff or sand to remove now.
