Old Tools

Does anyone know anything about old craftsman tools? I was given some old tools last week, when going through them I found an old fashion craftsman tape measure. I was wondering if someone could tell me how old it is or if you know anything about it? It has a handle that pops open in the middle to crank the tape back into the reel.

I've seen one or two of these in my life and the last time I saw one was about (telling my age here) 25-30 years ago.

It looks like it is in pretty good condition. Is the tape rusted?

Hey Rod, the tape is in good shape, I cant find any rust on it at all. The tool box was given to me from an elder family member. I also have wrenches in the same box that were used during the Korean War days.

Go to Ebay and check out stuff like that for some idea of worth.

Also there are collectors groups for everything so do research on old tools etc.

It could be worth more then you think to the right people IF your intention is to sell it.

I have seen quite a few tapes like that, mostly 100ft'rs w/ manual rewind. Probably not worth too much, sorry! It could be older though! I found a Boy Scouts Handbook from 1951. in decent shape. I wonder if it is worth anything.

I bought one just like that a couple years ago. You can get them at most home stores.
