big wooden playground

Question

got a bid comming up this summer for a big wooden playground. havent measured it yet, looks to be 8 to 11,000sq.ft. the city uses there own stain and wont budge. thats fine with me they want it done every year. has anyone ever done one and what kind of concerns should i have? thanks ronnie

Many cities are required to use only what has been approved for continous exposure around people that use the surface, so in this case the kids. When the lead paint issue came up many years back, thousand of playgrounds here had to be redone with a "safer" paint.

Since kids will be crawling around on this in places that you would not even imagine, extra special care to sanding will be needed. One splinter and they may come after you.
