Newbie Question

I have to quote my first paint removal job it is a brick wall which use to be inside the house before renovations it has interior paint on it i have a 3000psi 4 gallon machine would a turbo rotomax with heat do the job or would i need to sand blast or use stripper thanks for any help.

removing paint from brick is a pain and you'll never get all of it off. I had a friend that needed his office building repainted and he asked me for some help in prepping so I went out with a 3700psi/4gpm machine with a rotating turbo nozzle and took as much paint off the cylinder block as possible. I got a lot of it off, mostly in the areas where it was already starting to chip and peel (which was what we were going for) and we just painted over what was left. All in all the moral of my story is avoid jobs that have you removing paint from wood or brick. Stain is one thing paint is another, especially latex paint. The PW alone will not be enough and I recomend passing on the job. I would at least.

There are multiple chemicals out there that will remove paint from any surface - they do get expensive so you have to make sure that your client understands the noticeably higher cost involved with paint removal.

SunBrite Supply's RemoveAll and BioWash 310 to name a couple. Check with Tracy or Pete at SunBrite. You can also try searching some of the grafitti threads - there may be chemicals listed there. Steve Rowlett has removed some pretty bad paint with his Roof Magic 2x + some 911 then followed with oxalic.

thanks guys, i took the job on a hourly rate only i got a sample chemical from a graffiti specialist this stuff will knock your socks off painted it on 2 min dwell and wash it off the paint just melted.

An MSDS does not supply enough information to replicate a chemical formulation.

a realize its not possible to duplicate from an msds but you may find a product that is based with the same major chemical given that this product has 70% of one product listed and four others listed its a pretty good start.
