jakobe 14 Report post Posted June 1, 2008 what kind of film? its just oil I would think you would have to use an additional filter inline with your current filter. -get the oil -pre-filter the big stuff -uv treat to kill any bacteria -strain the oil into a holding tank -dump in diesel tank -then it gets filter 2x more by the new inline filter and existing filter before it get s burned and if you cant use straight veg oil what would be the appropriate mixture of regular diesel and vegOil? just adding a couple of gallons of veg oil can save 25$ or more a day Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
NewYorkBoraPL 22 Report post Posted June 1, 2008 Cars which switch to using biodiesels and ethanol fuels need a change in their injection pulse widths and ignition spark timings. They usually get their cars "chipped" which changes these parameters. However this is in regards to fuel injected motors. Im no guru in carburated engines but they would inevitably need some sore of retune as well. Ethanol fuel consumption is rated as a higher octane fuel but in order to achieve similar results to gasoline it must be consumed at a greater rate of roughly 30 percent. jakobe 14 Report post Posted June 1, 2008 I was talking about using it in my burner NOT the engine the hot water heater/burner only I know how bioD and vegoil engines work. we converted my neighbors mecedes 300d to run on veggie and diesel mix required new plugs and an additional fuel filter. no change in ignition timing required.
