Fun with Teak

Question

How many out there work with teak? We work with it quite a bit and really love this wood. See it most often as furniture. What are you putting on the teak? How often? What are you doing for cleaning?

About a year and a half back, we were fortunate enough to find some furniture very, very, very used and neglected - for a song. Needless to say we brought it home and restored it. It was never cared for, was so grey it was black, had algae, and in a prio life had potted plants resting on it. ICK.

The chair I am about to post a pic of, had Cabot's Australian Timber Oil put on it 13 months ago. (note: no severe mildew infestation) This April we gave it a very light percarb wash, about 2-3 oz per gallon, very light neutralization. Done with a soap tip. No additional sealer was put on this chair.

You guys who are thinking of filming hardwood will want to click these photos... Rod experimented on this chair, and added a little more product, not alot, but just enough for a slight film. Again, this was aged, already shrank, etc.

Thoughts???

Beth
