desi 14 Report post Posted September 11, 2005 Hi, My sodium hydroxide supplier just raised his prices to 14.00 per gallon ( local supplier/ manuf) I was told purple power is a butyl based degreaser good for cleaning aluminum gutters. I usea butyl based detergent now and am wondering what the diference is. Have any of you read the msds of purple power? Here is what is in my butyl degreaser: hazardous ingredients 5-10% ethylene glycol monobutyl ether < 5% sodium metasilicate <5% sodium hydroxide 1) This is a generic brand manuf. locally. I sthis different from purple power? if so, how? 2) As mentioned above , my sodium hydroxie went up to 14.00 per gallon < 80% sodium hydroxide Is this a rip off. I use it for oil stains. Both are in liquid form. thanks
PressurePros 249 Report post Posted September 11, 2005 $14 per gallon is way too expensive. I wouldn't pay more than $3.00 per gallon for the type of cleaner you are looking for. Check out Sunbrite, Delco, PressureTek or Rowlett Pressure Cleaning. Now you also have to compare apples to apples. The product you are buying has a very high aqueous concentration of sodium hydroxide which makes it a bit more expensive. There are formulas for cleaning concrete that have synergistic compunds that can save you a ton of money. They work very well on gutters also.
