Cedar Shake House

Question

Hi Everyone,

Recently a customer called me and asked about her cedar shake house. I am fairly new to the game so bear with me. Cedar shake housing seems like something that might be a little out of my league at this time. I offered her a standard wash - but when she mentioned stripping and sealing I couldn't really help her (she is aware that I am not qualified to do the stripping and sealing) she is getting the outside of her house re-done in about 3-4 years, She just wants a basic cleaning for now. Part of her house is also stone which I will have no problem with but it is the cedar shake that is giving me the problem now. My machine is a craftsmen 2900 psi / 2.3 GPM - i was going to use a standard craftsmen house wash concentrate and the delicate tip with my machine - holding the tip about six inches from the actual siding. I don't want to leave streaks in the cedar because it seems very delicate. I tried finding other posts about cedar shake siding but didnt have any luck... I have been a member of TGS for about a year now and have already found so many uses for this forum, insurance, pricing, etc.

I would apreciate it if you guys could offer some tips for someone who is pretty new to the game without getting to involved with the cedar, is this out of my league, should I not get involved with the job, what should I use (chemicals?), etc.

Thanks Alot....

Mike
