Soda-Sand Blasting?????

Recommended Posts

I restore old cars and there is no one close that Soda Blast's. So I was going to purchase my own equipment. My question is: Can you run soda through a sand blaster and have it work. I was told you could but find nothing of the mention of it. Some cars need to be soda blasted and some you can sand blast. I would like to get ONE machine that does both with good results. Any help??? And any recommendations on equipment. With taking cost into consideration. .I restore for myself maybe a car a year. Thanks

I think the answer is yes, but I want to encourage you to call:

Marco USA

Marco | Abrasives, Blasting and Painting Supplies

1-800-BLAST-IT

They can tell you all about different media, what can be used with various equipment etc.

Tell them See Dirt Run Inc. sent you please.

To rent a blast pot, I know ACR PRODUCTS has one, but they may only rent for commercial use. Call them at 610-253-8005 and tell them we sent you.

We provide media blasting services in the Atlanta area. I saw your post and thought I'd give you some hints. Depending on the condition of your car, soda blasting may go a little slow and you could wind up using more soda that you had planned on. Look into a media called Super K, it's slightly more abrasive than soda but won't scratch the metal. It's all we use on auto restoration.

You can rent pots that will get the job done, but make sure you get one with pressure and media controls. Makes an incredible difference in how quickly the job goes and the amount of media required. Be sure to use a unit with a cooler and at least two condensers, otherwise you'll be fighting with the system to get the job done.

Good luck!
