Here are some of the design elements.... The granite slab, and the travertine.... the cabinets are cherry and will be light. I also added a couple before shots of the kitchen... Beth

Thanks guys!!! :) Note, the tile has radiant heating installed under it. That was fun to install, I actually like doing that project. Tomorrow the cabinets arrive. Wednesday the granite people come to template. During the week we are waiting for the granite we will do all the finishing touches, including a custom pantry with wood frame doors and stainless steel inlays that Rod and I designed. The granite is scheduled to be installed the 23rd. Only two things could really screw it all up. One, damaged cabinets in shipping, or two the granite people can't make it on time. Once the granite is in I will install the travertine backsplash with the cobalt blue glass accents..... PLEASE pray this is smooth. All I want is to cook a meal on Christmas. Beth

Christmas is special to all who observe and celebrate it as it means something special to each. We are fortunate enough to live in a country that has freedom of religion. That in itself is a very important right imbued within the constitution for the purpose of avoiding the pitfalls of history where only certain religions were allowed and not all followed them, which led to wars and death. I don't mind whatever religion is practiced, I just want to practice it in my own way according to my beliefs. Each of us in this country is free to do the same. Religion is not something to be imposed upon a person but available instead for their ability to experience when they are ready for it. We all look to a higher power in times of need and when we are weak and it is in those times we realize just how small and insignificant we are in the presence of all that creation is and how much we really don't know or understand about it. Something higher is at work at all times and for some, Christmas is a way of remembering that and we give to others in our own way. In America it is with presents, in other countries, it is food, clothing and help. I don't think of any of religion as right or wrong but as 'do' or 'no thanks, its not for me'. I hope this holiday season, Christmas' spirit will touch anyone who is open to it and enjoy the experience. Merry Christmas. I have no idea how old you are, but my step father was Italian. I spent 6 weeks there at age 13, and it was WONDERFUL. The Italians are pro-Italian (duh?), but I never experienced any kind of anti-American sentiment, but then I was there to experience their country and culture. I found them to be warm, and fun, and proud, and generous. What happened to that girl was horrible, but an individual did it not a country. Beth
