Good day all, Many have posted about the positive vs negative content in BBS forums, expressing their dismay in regards to ones they feel do not meet their standards vs ones that do. Here on TGS we have received many compliments about the administration of the forums and we thank each person for stepping up and letting us know how we are doing as well as those who have let us know where we have fallen short or missed something. We have taken all this into consideration as we moved forward and are confident in the professional tone TGS has developed. Those who did not contribute courteously and respectfully have moved on to places where there type of contributions were acceptable. Keeping in mind that each of us is different in our influences and walk of life and that each can have a bad experience in some way or another, within the rules of the forums they are allowed to post what is going on in their life. While it is not always positive, the fact that anyone would complain about reading it is amazing to me and it makes me wonder who is holding their eyes to the screen and preventing them from clicking the "Back" button on the browser? It occurs to me that it is the same syndrome we all see when driving down the highway and come upon an accident and there are those who can't help but rubber-neck and slow down to the point of holding up everyone behind them just to get a view of the drama that has taken place as they slowly go by, yet ... they don't stop to help. Pisses me off everytime. Same happens in BBS land and yet many are lured into the drama and instead of backing out of the thread, complain in it and set the tone to become progressively worse requiring moderators and administrators to step in. Then more complain as the content is either edited/redacted or the thread is moved from public view and no longer available for discussion. My point is this; if you have some way to contribute to the thread that is on topic and is within the rules of the forum, do so. -If you find the thread distasteful or otherwise unfit for your viewing or participation...use the "Back" button and find another to be a part of. -If you find something in the thread that you feel is a violation of the rules, click the "report post" icon box (second of the 4 in the top right corner of each post), compete the information, click the "send report" button. Once the page resets, click the "Back" button and leave the rest to the moderators and administrators. Thank you, Rod!~

Congrats man! :D Rod!~ -
We started to make a rather nice list of charities folks can donate to in another thread. I think this topic is deserving of a thread of it's own. Let's all add to it, and see how many we can collectively help. I'll start: Make-A-Wish Foundation : Ways To Help : Donate Give. :) Beth

Personally, I don't think anyone will touch that idea right now.... Beth

Shawn, While you may feel you have something over others here what is trying to be relayed to you is that what YOU may charge is not what ANOTHER should charge. Each business has its own unique operations and costs associated with it. The answer provided for the initial poster was that they should learn how to price instead of trying to find out what others are charging and take the easy road and not learn a thing. Now, we realize you are new to the forums and there are rules associated with it. Your posts have been reported to us for bashing another member and after my review I find the reports accurate. Stop. Back away from the keyboard and conduct yourself like you are in front of your customer when you next touch the keys to participate in this forum. Keep in mind your information is SEO'd and anything your say in an open forum can be searched on the internet and read by your prospective customers. Now, for the others who wanted information on pricing, here is a link to this item which has been discussed before and can easily be found by using the search feature which is free and available for all members. http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/residential-pressure-washing/13461-hour-foot.html http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/wood-cleaning-restoration-decks-fences-etc/16842-pricing-teak-furniture.html ...and to make it easier in the future for others to find it, I pulled both articles into 1 thread and stickied them in the Business section of the forum. http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/business-topics-tips/18253-building-your-own-price.html#post167710 Rod!~

You get what you pay for...

I hate to see this happen. I'm sure next time they won't get the work. I'll bet you do! In fact, now is the time to get them locked into an annual maintenance plan if you can..... Beth -
JUST A REMINDER.... We are all professionals here and expected to act professional. Please remain respectful of others, and help them when you are able. Newbies do not always know how to search, you can politely explain that to them. The goal here is NOT to discourage others from posting, it is to encourage it. We are a networking site, let's all keep that in mind. Thanks! Beth

I don't know of one online, but I can point you in the right direction of what to add to your own. 1. for your state, copy the labor law and verbiage for payroll, overtime, etc. 2. see your workmans's comp insurance for verbiage on reporting job site injuries 3. list holidays and if they are paid or not 4. list any benefits you offer and when employees will become eligible 5. describe the procedure you have for evaluating and raising empoyees, as well as for reprimanding, suspending, firing etc. This is the tip of the ice berg. Hope it helps. Beth

Please edit your post and remove the copy pasted photos. Use the image attachment feature at the bottom of where you compose the message to attach them so it doesn't throw the forums out of whack. Thank you! :) Beth -

Beth n Rod posted a topic in Business Topics & Tips
It is often said that Black Friday is a gauge for our economy. How well do you think retailers will do today and this Holiday season? Will struggling retailers survive or will we see more store closings? Post your .02.... Beth -
