Blending new/old PT
Beth n Rod replied to bigchaz's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
We have done a number of them. Customers were thrilled! Replace only the boards too far gone to sand. Offer it as an option, let them decide how important it is, or is not. Beth -

I get the point. Kinda wish I didn't if you know what I mean..... Beth -
Anything. ok, now that I got that out of my system... :) I have not ever seen a pw'er commercial or heard a radio commercial for that matter either. Most of what we see is in magazines for local businesses, newspaper classified sections featuring contractor headings, direct mail, flyers and word of mouth. Rod!~

Deck Restoration current Pricing
Beth n Rod replied to Tbone123's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I have said this time and time again...It is not about "the current rates" but it is about what your specific costs will be. This is not limited to the direct costs for materials and labor but must include business overhead and profit as well. Others have asked this question and while you could take a shot in the dark, it is your businesses future you are taking a shot in the dark with. Do your homework, learn about business management, accounting, payroll and insurances, how they factor into your business costs and get a line on that before you get in front of the customer. You took the biggest step by taking your future into your own hands, don't take shortcuts and set yourself up for mistakes that can take years to overcome. You owe it to yourself to do it right. Rod!~- 16 replies

As others have mentioned, it is good reference material, but nothing will replace the learning curve associated with understanding what the effects your process will have on any particular substrate being worked on. Concrete, wood, aluminum, vinyl, brick, E.I.F.S., Dryvit, Stucco, Asphalt, Glass, megaflon, duranar and other substrates all bear the effects of chemicals according to their composition, pH of the chemicals and the reactive range of them. Some chemicals may be effective on certain pollutants while adversely affecting the surface. This is just an example to point out that there is a great deal of knowledge to be gained before hand. Pressure washing any of these substrates requires a specific knowledge unique to each and is not a one size fits all type of application. Pressure can create damage obviously but also under the right conditions it can provide the desired results. Modifying that pressure according to the substrate being addressed is key. We all urge caution and patience hand in hand with attention to details and responsibility for the processes employed. Rod!~

Spray on bedliner. Btw, have you tried using shut off valves for the ends of your hoses? I use them and it avoids the problem. Also...use a rag while reeling the hoses, it gets the brunt of the dirt off as you roll em on. Rod!~

Hooray! You can post! :) Beth

You had to drag that up.... I still like your deck you had to shovel the best. Only thing I have ever shoveled off of a deck is snow. Rod did an estimate yesterday and the deck was covered in land mines from the owners beagle. I'm kinda glad he didn't take pictures, or this thread would really have gone to the dogs! Beth :cup: -
