It's not up for debate. I'm not going to explain it or debate it. It's been a topic before, and you can always search the forums if you are genuinely interested in knowing. It's a rule that is being enforced. You have to follow it if you wish to participate here. We have been too lax, we are getting complaints, we are stepping up to address it. Period. Hopefully you'll fix it..... Beth

  14. And so the season begins, much like it does every year. The ads come out, the phone begins to ring, and some of those would be callers pose as home owners whose sole purpose is to milk you for information and pricing so they can take their brand new HD machine and proceed to blast away for beer bucks. ENOUGH! We all know what a home owner acts like when they call. The tone, the questions, the demeanor is just not a same as your information troll. What the heck is wrong with Beth? She's usually so helpful. I'll always be helpful. But seriously, am I really expected to endure argumentative phone calls where the "homeowner" (read that as hack wanna-be) gets downright nasty when you insist you have to see the property to give a proper quote and that you won't give anything by phone? HA! Maybe it's the recession, or maybe it's the fact that work is hard and no one gets it all handed to them on a silver platter. Get over it, screw your head on straight and think about what you are about to do. Be legal, be licensed, be insured, and be careful. I totally do not get the mindset of all that matters is the money, and the customer satisfaction is secondary. That's another pet peeve that irritates the cheese out of me, the lack of understanding or caring about the effects of actions upon the industry and all of us in it. Read my lips, if you are a lousy hack who doesn't care about the work or the law then it reflects on all of us when you are stigmatized, and believe me, you will be stigmatized. Adjust your attitude and business practices or get the heck out. I think this is enough rant for half a cup of coffee..... :cup: Share your sentiments! Beth

  16. quick connect or twist connect

Twist fast (22mm) connectors are the most safe and don't come apart if lodged against something that will disengage the collar. On the other hand, QC connectors enable on the speed to change lances, tips and other accessories much quicker. Most who have the need to do this will use QC connectors. The only draw back is the need to replace 'O' rings. No biggey though, just buy em in a 25 - 50 pack and an 'O' ring pick to change em with and you are set. Rod!~
  17. Yes, but this particular deck was done last week. A couple of the differences I see right away are: On an old very dry PT deck, you don't end up with a dark oily look, the AC has so much pigment that you get a decent color at the surface. (we used semi-trans cedar with a hint of toner) It had been raining yesterday, and we noticed that it beads, which is not something WT did - WT spreads the water out - and I remember many a call trying to explain that WT was not a beading product. To me, I think the consumer will feel better about seeing the beading, since that has been pounded in by so many types of ads on TV over the years (cringe-Thompsons). To me, this looked a whole lot better on an old deck from the point of installation. Makes me feel pretty positive about it, since those decks often just look old no matter what. Know what I mean? Beth :cup:
  18. Just visited a deck yesterday that we used AC on recently. It looked FABULOUS. Looked better than when we used Wood Tux on it years ago. :dancing: Beth :cup: :groovy2:

  20. Scott, Products that are part or all acrylic (doesn't matter) can show this phenomenon either during installation or removal. That's all we are saying, have seen it with various products. Hope this helps. Beth

  23. http://saversystems.com/Product%20Data%20Sheets/hardwood.pdf Middle column, under "NOTE" this is also knows as bluing, and is what Rod is referring to. Beth
  24. Ok, I guess I should have been more specific. Also, I realize the pics below are not of Ipe but they are to support my post earlier and to clarify. Sorry if it takes away from the topic Rick. The product did not turn blue, the residue left in the wood made the wood itself turn blue which most would like to think was natural blue stain but in this case it wasn't. These pics should help: 1st one shows before stripping, 2nd is after stripping, 3rd is dry and prepping before realizing it needs to be sanded to remove the blueing, 4th is before prepping (sorry out of sequence here), 5th is sealed.
