  1. Do it in the same trip. Never leave a caustic on until your acid arrives. Do it right. Beth
  2. Recently Stained Decks

Yes, it CAN. Rinse the deck with water before, during and after the process. Beth
  3. AC vs. Woodtux

Silly avatar? ;) It was my idea to have a default avatar. Fits the forums. If you would like to have a custom one, knock yourself out. Beth
  4. AC vs. Woodtux

We use Wood Tux, but we are exploring other products. Too many things have changed in longevity since the VOC changes that effected the east coast for us not to try and consider other things. Beth p.s. I like your new avatar!! (hehehe)
  5. I'll call her. Thanks! :)

  6. Mixing the witches brew!

Before you start mixing things together.... http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/chemicals-safety/13216-chemical-reactivity-worksheet-download-link.html Be CAREFUL. Some things should NOT be mixed. Always check first! Beth
  7. Working outdoors - most and least...

  9. My first deck

Just for clarification, I didn't mean that you did but customer perceptions. The wheel may look fancy but I get more compliments for using one than anything else because it looks professional. Besides, it gives the curious and bothersome kids something to play with while I am writing up the proposal. They roll it all over the place and watch the numbers go up. This has broke the ice with many clients too. It's a tool that has helped in more ways than one. Considering trying to measure the deck in your pics with a tape would be tedious. I actually lost one in a pool when the recoil from the tape rewinding twisted it out of my hand and had me fumbling to catch it before it went 'splash!' right in front of them. Fortunately, they had a net to fish it out with, still it didn't set well with them. Talk about an embarrassing moment! Rod!~
  10. stain in the shower

We have a vinyl shower stall and the floor of it got really bad. The one thing I found that worked but still needed some scrubbing was by using Lysol toilet bowl cleaner. Poured it on and evenly brushed it around, let dwell for about 15-20 minutes and then came back and scrubbed a bit before rinsing. It came clean and white again. Rod!~
  11. Log home in Michigan

    Pelkie... Beth :cup:
  12. Boy's Rite of Passage?

I see that as cruel and inhumane. It's a cat, which is capable of being a pet in a good home. I have pet cats. I don't have pet ants. Beth
  13. Boy's Rite of Passage?

How is hunting necessary when you can go to the store? How is eating meat (which promotes the further slaughter of life) something we need to do? It's a choice we make based upon socialization and choices. I love red meat. I buy it every week, at the store. If I had to go kill it for food I would see it like I do sport. I would be a vegetarian! Not my thing. Been there, done that, like it in a wrapper thank you very much. Beth
  14. Boy's Rite of Passage?

What about rites of passage such as hazing that goes on in college during rush week? These a young men and women, obviously who have done well enough to get into college (read that as smart kids from good homes), and they are subjected to cruel act to join a social group? Have you ever studied Anthropology? There are some very cruel, but very accepted acts among many cultures that are woven into the fabric of society. Heck, just look at circumcision! Beth
  15. Boy's Rite of Passage?

What if the ants are part of a colony that has invaded your home? Are you saying one method of extermination is better than another? Did you hunt for sport...or food...? Beth
  16. Boy's Rite of Passage?

Yeah well, my mom send me into the garden with the jar to catch Japanese beetles to spare her roses, but I'm QUITE sure she was NOT the kind of person you described! Thank you. Beth
  17. Boy's Rite of Passage?

This is a thread about being a kid. Can we keep it in that context please? It doesn't need to become a morality or religious thread. NO ONE is perfect...we are ALL human. Beth
  18. Boy's Rite of Passage?

HOLY *&^(*! that is funny! Only us guys can think of things like that. Rod!~
  19. Boy's Rite of Passage?

If he must do something like that....why not catch the Japanese beetles (since they eat roses and such) in a jar and shake it up? Beth
  20. Boy's Rite of Passage?

    Miles never did it.... Beth
  21. I'll add one nugget of advice....if you are relatively new to stripping, keep it misted wet with more product, not water. If you are newer to stripping, not sure of your ratios, and over wet it you can reduce the effectiveness. Once you have some experience and good success with stripping you may feel more comfortable with water misting. For the novice - don't do it. You will be naturally inclined to wash too soon as it is.... Patience is everything... Just my .02. Beth
  22. Possible theft?

  24. My first deck

Go buy a rolling wheel and measure! I think you are a little long on the measurement. Using a measuring tool makes you look professional to the Home Owner and builds confidence in your figures as being accurate instead of a # pulled out your behind. The money you spend now will help you make much more later. My .02 Rod!~
  25. what to do with sad looking cedar deck?

My responses in blue: I will let the advice of others on products stand for your consideration but I thought I would add to the salient points so that you would know what to expect in the respective concerns you have raised. Cedar is a beautiful wood, but it does require more frequent care. Rod!~
