  1. "Foamer" for wood

Not really Rick, The x-jet adds more air to the process and so it lends to the foaming capabilities. A sprayer like a pump up or Delavan as you mentioned does not introduce enough air into it to make a good foam. So I suggested bumping it up a bit so at the tip it will start to foam a bit better. It will spit out more than spray unless you have a foamer lance. Check with the grease police on that one. Rod!~
  2. HD-80 will take it. Give it a 30 minute dwell time on the rails and keep it wet, scratch everywhere to check for progress and do it to it!! Rod!~
  3. Which airless sprayer are you referring to? Important question to simplify the answer. Rod!~
  4. Sodium Hydroxide/Butyl Mix Oxidation

Paint oxidation can be removed with a combination of the two like in a Heavy duty degreaser formulation and brushing. But you will need to rinse thoroughly afterwards and most of all, avoid the product drying on the surface as this can exacerbate the condition and dull the paint. Rod!~
  5. And I'm sure you're busy lining them up! :) That photo with a reference would sure do it for me!!! ;) Beth
  6. Terry, that is one amazing fence! Beth
  7. "Foamer" for wood

The alkaline foaming agent works well at around 2-3oz/gal when applying by X-jet but if you are applying with a sprayer, bump it up to around 6oz/gal to get some good bubbly going. It does help keep the chems 'wet' longer and adds some vertical cling but will still need reapplications until dwell time is complete. Rod!~
  8. What does it take???

Bump! Maybe we should all think about this. It's our busy season folks! Beth
  9. That looks like something off of "the Flying Dutchman" in Pirates of the Caribbean! Crusty!!!! I would hit is with a 20/80 bleach/water solution to get rid of the algae, then go back and hit it again with your regular deck cleaning solution. I have had to do some monsters like this in the past and it is the quickest way to get through all the crustiness. Good pic. Rod!~

  15. Email me a print screen so I can trouble shoot it please. I can't do anything without seeing the screen shot. Saying you get an error - tells me nothing concrete. No one has banned you, or done anything to you, technical problems do happen. TGS had some last week, this is probably a residual of that. Beth

Thanks! :) I thought the mom's and dad's out there would appreciate it. Beth
  22. Woodrich vs. Woodtux

You set the term on that one Paul. No one here said wait a year but you. We are saying wait a few months. btw, I don't think anyone here would ever be promising to make a deck look "new". Let's keep things in context. Listening to what the customer wants and expects is always a good practice, BUT, educating them on the real world conditions surrounding their structure and giving them more realistic expectations based upon what you know a product will do vs the conditions that it will endure is responsibility in setting the correct expectations. Given the VOC changes we are all contending with, I don't think anyone can give an accurate prediction beyond 9 months of how long a product will last on Ipe'. Discussions like what Rick has posted in the past give us better insights and understandings of how products are doing. I stand behind my advice of letting the wood season a few months. Let's be realistic here. Your test board did not get exposure to life use (walking, animals, debris, parties etc.) Just by looking at the pic, it just sat somewhere in the sun didn't it! Rod!~
  23. Woodrich vs. Woodtux

Neither of us were talking about softwoods at all. Please re-read our posts. We are talking about seasoning Hardwoods. Of course you got the results on softwoods that you did, they do not comparably have in extractive content the same makeup. Rod!~
