Did some more searching on weatherbonk.com and they even have real time traffic info. Helps to get to where you are going knowing if there are any delays. May not be 100% accurate but any warning is better than none IMO. Check it out.

Former president's mold-ridden structure torn apart
Beth n Rod posted a topic in Industry News & Events
North Jersey Media Group providing local news, sports & classifieds for Northern New Jersey! Former president's mold-ridden structure torn apart Wednesday, December 12, 2007 By EVONNE COUTROS STAFF WRITER Workers early Wednesday began tearing down the mold-ridden Saddle River home where former President Richard M. Nixon and his wife, Pat, lived from 1981 to 1990. The dilapidated eight-bedroom house on Charlden Drive will give way to a new home on the 4-acre property. Ted Preusch, a former police chief in Upper Saddle River who served as a special federal marshal for Nixon, walked the grounds he knew so well just after sunrise today to take one last look. “It’s in terrible condition,” Preusch said of the wood-frame house. “When the Nixons were here it was extremely well-maintained.” He was long gone when the excavator’s clam bucket took the first bite through the kitchen wall, reducing it to rubble with a resounding crunch. “It’s hard to bring this house down because of its history, but there’s no way around it,” said Robert S. Helemian Jr., the new owner of the property. “Part of me hurts to see it go, but a new home will go up.” -

I have heard from many people over the years that they vacation in the off season (winter) rather than in the summer due to the nature of our businesses. I thought it would be fun to see when people go away and where. Are there spots you go and LOVE, that you highly suggest to others? Where are they and what do they offer vacationers? The Nixon's didn't own it when it was torn down. I do feel sorry for the owners. Beth -

Woodies - I Need Your Help...
Beth n Rod replied to Bryan C's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
It could be yes. Mix the chems with hot water if you have a machine that generates it. Also if you have a machine that is hot water capable you can turn on the burner and warm the water to about 70 for washing. Not hot, but not ice cold either. It helps in cold weather. Beth -
That was cute. :) Beth

Woodies - I Need Your Help...
Beth n Rod replied to Bryan C's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
The stain on that deck is ready to come off even with a percarbonate cleaner. You should at least do the homeowner the favor of sealing it with a clear sealant to keep it from turning gray within the next 6 weeks. Your client would do well to have a stain applied as it improves the look, adds value to the structure (in the buyers eyes) in the fact that it looks taken care of and not neglected and will last much longer in case the house does not sell with in the first few months. NEW YORK — A window washer fell 47 stories to his death Friday; his brother also fell from the same scaffold, but survived, though he is in critical condition, according to The New York Times. Edgar Moreno was killed in the fall from the Solow Tower at East 66th Street and Second Avenue; his brother Alcides is fighting for his life at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Hospital, the story stated. A relative of the brothers told the Times that they had expressed concerns about the safety of the scaffold, but had been assured by a supervisor that the scaffold had been fixed, the story noted. The brothers were employed by City Wide Window Cleaning of Jamaica, Queens, the story added. Click here to read the full article. For related information, click here.

Deck guys I need help
Beth n Rod replied to jetstream1's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
2240 sqft...does that include rails or not? Here is a base model to start with: $1.10 - $1.20 sqft. wash and seal should cover it. Yeah, it seems a bit high but w/o any pics or more information about what you are removing, what product you are applying, and the methods you are going to use to both wash and seal it will ball park you enough to make some $$$ anyway. Based upon a model of 250 sqft/hour to wash, you are looking at around 8 hours to wash it with only one person. Sealing it can take you around 10 hours with one person. That's a minimum of 18 hours. Whats your hourly rate? There is about $90/hour built into this model to cover labor, insurances, overhead, and incidental costs before getting to the materials for the job and the fuel for not only the machine, but the # of times you drive out there and back, your time while driving etc. You have a max of $850 for materials. 150/sqft application rate = 15 gallons of product. $175/5gal X 3 = $525 for sealant $100 for the stripper/cleaner $50 for the neutralizer oh and uh...+ shipping The rest is for misc tools, plastic, tarps, etc. Had to write this on the fly as I am heading out the door so... Hope this gets you on your way. Rod!~ -

Hi Ryan, Welcome to TGS. You should look here: http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/faq.php?faq=new_faq_item for some basics on wood care. Also if you search here using words like: deck stripping, deck sealer, pressure treated deck, etc. you will find lots of results. You might also want to go through the wood specific forums. Welcome! :) Beth :cup:
