  5. cat urine odor

Janitorial supply companies have pet odor eliminators for use indoors in such cases as yours. If you cover it up now, it will come back later. Pet odors don't just go away when covered up, they need to be neutralized at the source. Rod!~
  6. restora revisited

I have some sample cartons they gave out at a RT. Never got the chance to use them. If anyone needs them, give me a shout. Rod!~
  7. IPE Dock

John, The EPA does not "approve" or "endorse" any specific method or product. What they do do is tell us what can and cannot go into a body of water. To elaborate further: Washing weathered wood over a body of water with only water is allowed, but allowing debris such as stain, paint or other installed coatings to go into it is restricted. Washing with the aid of chemicals is restricted. Around here, we have what are called "Friends of the lake" and they are watch dogs who have the EPA and other water authority phone numbers on speed dial. Here is one rub though...someone cannot wash the barnacles off a boat and allow the debris to go into the same body of water that spawned it but you can go into the water and pressure wash the boat while it is in dock. Go figure. Rod!~
  8. Wagner 4275 Airless?

We have a couple of Titans, and love them. Beth :cup:
  9. professionalism

Busy in this instance could be up to interpretation as to what one calls busy. For these, busy may be doing 12oz presses or watching the idiot box...who knows. It doesn't look like they are busy in the picture except for the fact that they are moving around....doing....something?!?! As for them being lowballers, I think one can feel safe to say that by the frugality of their uniforms or lack thereof, yes. Now that we have established the bottom of the totem pole, we can all aspire from here to improve upon what these two have shown us is not acceptable by any standard relative to a professional. :yoda:  Rod!~

  11. I don't know. You should ask Barbara. I know some folks have brought spouses in the past and they have had fun. I'm starting to hear about people flying in from out of town more and more and this sounds like it is shaping up to be another great event you do not want to miss. Tom and Barbara will have a list of speakers soon. Hope to see you all there! Beth
  12. professionalism

It's everywhere. To me, it just makes me want to work that much harder to be professional and present a very distinct image to our potential clients. If they can't see value in our company after that, so be it. Beth

  15. IPE Dock

That is just thoroughly grey wood with plenty of yuck on top. Use a percarb at full strength then wash. I wouldn't bother sealing it as it will not hold anything well in that environment anyway. Too wet and lots of UV reflecting off the water hitting it all more angles than usual. Rod!~

  18. Ken, you should get out more often...it looks great. But...I know, you need to be running the business and not working in it. I know it helps to stay on top of things by doing a project and keeping your skills honed. Rod!~

  20. How Would You Handle This?

Sounds like a breakdown or lack of communication. You set the expectation and than they come back asking for more despite saying they did not expect miracles and yet they did anyway. Was this is same person you spoke to initially and was it the same person who called to tell you of the issues? Rod!~
  21. Gutter Cleaning and Leaf Guards

IMO, leaf guards are the lazy mans answer to clogged gutters and are misleading in the fact that they keep gutters clean. They in fact add an additional ability for smaller debris to get lodged in them creating a dam that prevents them from performing as designed. I have seen my share of screened gutters and don't recommend them because once dirty, they allow water to build up on top of the debris and soak in behind the gutters flashing and into the roof line which defeats the purpose of the gutters to begin with. Rot becomes a problem which is far more expensive to repair than cleaning and inspecting a gutter a couple of times a year which avoids the wasted costs of adding an implement of neglect that will cost even more later. penny wise/pound foolish. my .02 Rod!~
  22. Hope you do!!! :) Would love to meet you. Beth
  23. Fall work

  24. Insurance Q

Workmans comp is required once you hire your first employee. You can get the coverage to cover yourself depending upon your states specific requirements for eligibility. General liability is not always what it seems. You can be covered in some instances but in others where logically one would assume they are covered, you are vulnerable and liable for any out of pocket expenses incurred as a result of the incident. Read the coverage, inclusions and exclusions before signing. Also, get a higher deductible to lower your rates. Bonding is another grey area that should be discussed with an insurance rep because of what is covered and not. Overall, you should sit down and talk with a few agents that give you quotes in the range you are willing to spend. Explain to them the extent of your business and scope of work, the equipment you want covered, property coverage, fire, flood, accident and so forth. These are all important and if you are going to get insurance, might as well get it right the first time so you can concentrate on your business. Rod!~
