I am looking into the new Tundra's with the extended cab. The ole' 2000 Ranger XLT is getting long in the tooth and needs a new lease on life with someone who perhaps won't work it as hard as I have toting around a 600lb pw'er and ladder every single day. Fords are tough though, my only concern is if I can still get it in the garage with all the accoutrement's. Rod!~

I am with shane on this one, the material between the concrete needs to be flexible otherwise it can contribute to cracking and buckling. Check in with your local box store and see what the stuff is called. my .02 Rod!~

My suggestion if cob blasting is to put a mesh around it. You would have to change it frequently but you could catch the largest portion of it before it gets to the water. Food for thought? Rod!~

Micheal I am glad I don't have your customers. :arg: We get so much mildew and algae in our neck of the woods that it is not a question of needing cleaning but how much they are willing to shell out to have it done. In our area, the pitch is that one doesn't have to stain it or seal it. Cleaning is an expectation set ahead of time but only with predetermined cleaners other wise the warranty is voided. Maybe you could include this in your pitch to keep the hacks from undercutting you? Granted, not all decks you may be going to wash are still under any warranty but it could help to convince your clients that the hacks are going to do damage that will shorten the life of their investment. Just food for thought in case you haven't done this but if you have and it isn't working for you then forget I mentioned it. :2eyes: Tony, That's good to know that certain plants are the contributing causes. Not from muriatic acid. It will etch the surface paste and cause spalding which reveals the aggregate below. This looks different, perhaps from used antifreeze that has leaked out of a container. What's your assessment? Rod!~

Hey Tony, I was told that the black stuff leaching out of the composite decking was tannin from the wood that was used in the production of the material. I use oxalic acid to get rid of it ... temporarily that is ... until the bleed starts again, and again...etc. Funny thing though, the composite manufacturers will void the warranty if any acid is ever used to clean the deck with. Bleach won't touch it, based upon the ones we have done. Any thoughts? Rod!~ btw, signed up for the Trex remediation contractor referral and never got a call to go fix any of their deck problems named in the judgment locally, anyone get in on that one?

In vegas, people used to conduct bikini car washes. They created such a traffic problem that the police department literally had the city council vote to ban them. Rod!~

Problem with the batteries is that they are NiCad and unless you completely run them down, they develop a memory and shorten the charge life. Buy several of the batteries and a few chargers and set em up in the vehicle with a power inverter to supply the continuous charging. I hate doing gutters and the market has been low-balled to the point that one cannot make any money at it. Rod!~ Rod!~
