Ken, if you are only an hour out, I hope to see you there. There was sure not enough time to chat about marketing last time. There is never enough time for that. ;) I always feel energized after a good marketing discussion! Beth

One of the most important things to consider is warranty service. Who will provide it and are they close enough that you don't have to travel a great distance to get service. For this reason alone I recommend hydrotek units. They have a large repair network for them and most are close enough to limit your down time if you happen to need service. my .02 Rod!~

The problem with using bleach without a surfactant is that the bleach can stay behind leaving little visible evidence and cause oxidation to begin on the vinyl. I would use a mild detergent to add surface action and a rinse aid to help get it all off. Oxidation from chemical residue is the applicators liability and playing devils advocate here, could cost you a whole new house residing to remedy the problem. Rod!~

John, now you have the weight of both Tony and Ron on your shoulders, and I really wanted to see both of them. Just go. ;) Beth

We don't let others personal matters deter us from going to be a part of Tom and Barbara's event. If there is someone questionable in attendance, we simply don't interact with them. There are plenty of wonderful people attending who we like to talk to and enjoy their company. Besides, there is so much else to do than worry about any one person and their iniquities of past, present or future. We can all be above pettiness and make the most of the event. John, bring your wife and enjoy. We don't get to meet with you very often as it is and it is a high point for us. Rod!~

John, you have always enjoyed the RT's no matter where they were held. Go and enjoy. Hopefully everyone else will do the same, just enjoy themselves. Beth

Hi Mario, Welcome to TGS. Best advice I can give you, is grab a snack and set aside time to read. Try starting here: http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/faq.php There are basics about the forums, and about PWing too. Also the Library forum has a good amount of articles in it. In your USER CP (button at the top) you should also take a few minutes to add your signature. Welcome again. :) Beth -

Reducing shock/vibration on homemade skid unit
Beth n Rod replied to Chris S's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Sounds like you want grommets aka rubber bushings. I've seen em at the auto parts store. They come in assorted sizes and are commonly in the HELP! section of odd parts and stuff. Rod!~ -
Reducing shock/vibration on homemade skid unit
Beth n Rod replied to Chris S's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
What is causing the vibration? Normal vibration from the engine is usually absorbed through the frame but I am curious if you have another source which could be an indication of something not in alignment or mounted incorrectly. Rod!~ -

I was taking measurements at an embassy in DC once and at the time I was still using a hand-held tape measure. Well, I had just measured the length of a rail by the pool and popped the end to get the tape to retract. The guy escorting me on the property asked me a question and when the tape got fully back into the case I fumbled it from the shock of recoiling and off it went into the pool. Fished it out with a pool net but still, it was embarrassing. I now only use a rolling wheel to measure with. Rod@!

Acr Roundtable To Have An Open Forum On A New Organization !
Beth n Rod replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Industry News & Events
Scott, Thank you for bringing your ideas to the table. All the more to consider at the 'Town Meeting' as it has been neatly put. Just for the record, neither Beth or I are spearheading this effort nor are we in any leadership position. This is still to be determined in other ways once positions of leadership are appointed, but we are in support here. According to some of the feedback this far, if enacted, I don't think we would be eligible. For those who take up the positions by election, they will be given a great deal to work with by the feedback and input given here on TGS. This is a great start folks, lets keep it positive and move forward. Rod!~ -

Acr Roundtable To Have An Open Forum On A New Organization !
Beth n Rod replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Industry News & Events
I'll be the first to make a suggestion: One of the big points in starting an org is money. The second important point is participation amongst its membership. This can happen is many ways but the one significant one I will point out is fund raising. A group of people in various regions can accomplish this. Heck, we are pw'ers and have the equipment, how about holding a car wash locally? We have people with reclamation equipment and environmental pw'ing knowledge. Lets put that to use to make money for the org to get it off the ground. btw, this is but one of many suggestions people can make but doing is the contribution part. Let's make it happen! C-ya at Tom's. Rod!~ -
